Not sure if this is best place for this post!

Has anyone had a boob job and can tell me their experiences good and bad? Just looking for honest advice and whether you have any regrets etc?

Not personally, but DP's ex had implants and they became encapsulated (I think that's the right word) and apparently they now feel hard, "like a pair of coconuts" as he charmingly describes them!

They look ok as far as I can tell, but are obviously fake as she is very slim and they are very much up front and on show, with no jiggling or wobbling! Her DSis has recently had hers done too, so I'm presuming she has recommended the procedure despite her problems.

Fwiw, I used to have quite empty boobs, but someone recommended Evening primrose oil. This coupled with a steady diet of cake increased my bust size from a B to an E. (Obviously I have also gone up a size in trousers too, but my boobs definitely increased disproportionately!)

Amyelliot your sound advice sounds right up my street. Cake. If eating cake gave me good boobs Id be all over that Grin I shall give that a go Wink

Professor pickles hijack away! No many folk comment on these or want to admit they've had them which is fair enough but it's good to get people's views who've had them personally or someone close to them to help get good info.

I had mine done about 8 years ago and went from a barely AA cup to a DD. I was recently divorced, new partner and very self conscious after having bf both DD and DS. It took a week or so to recover and I had to wear a sports bra for 6 weeks, day and night afterwards so the implants stayed put while I healed. For several years post surgery I used to get little electric shock type pains in each boob - very weird! I went through Transform, my surgeon was Italian (drop dead gorgeous!) and encouraged slightly larger implants. I would probably with hindsight go smaller.
Positives - they look natural if a little big, they're pert and I can go bra less if the dress requires it!
Negatives - they're much more difficult to dress, I can't wear the clothes I used to wear and had to change my style, men and women talk to my chest, I still have scars although they are hidden underneath, I have a couple of numb patches from cut nerves.
HTH

Boston yeah it does thanks for replying. The little shock feelings did you ever find out what or why it happens?

I am happy to stay a relatively small size as long. As they are just fuller and Perkier, a c or d Id be happy with.

But I know you can't pick a size it's more cc, also did you choose round or teardrop?

It's frustrating because it'll probably be at least 5 years before I can even consider having the op, I can't see myself being able to afford it before then but it's always on my mind

Bostonpj · 03/05/2015 15:16

Mine are round. I think its the nerves regenerating but I could be wrong! Good luck and definitely read up as much as you can. Better to go in well informed and with as surgeon you like and trust to do a good job.

ProfessorPickles · 03/05/2015 16:27

Bostonpj - I think you could be right about nerves regenerating, I used to get stabbing pains around the scar when I had to have a c section, they stopped completely maybe 6 months after at the very most

LBDD · 03/05/2015 16:33

Yes I had the shooting pain thing too, must be nerves though below the nipple my boobs are pretty numb now.
People do talk to your boobs afterwards too, it used to make me laugh but the older I get the more irritating I find it. Big boobs are definitely harder to dress too, for a few years I must have looked really tarty as I still wanted to wear the same stuff like vest tops and fitted v neck tops. It took me ages to adjust how I thought I looked to the reality and when I look at old photos I cringe a bit.

ProfessorPickles · 04/05/2015 10:21

Does anyone think their breasts look better sometimes then others they look awful?
Sometimes they seem firmer and like they've got better even though I can still see they've lost their shape, then other times they look extremely saggy and awful!

Boobz · 06/05/2015 22:59

In March this year I went to 6 surgeons (UK and Italy, as I live in Rome) for boob consults. 4 out of 6 of them felt a lump on my left breast, which has turned out to be cancer.

Obviously I am really relieved they found it (vanity literally saved my life!) but it was a strange end to the journey I had started! I was so upset by the shape of my boobs (breastfed 3 DC in 3 years) that my poor DH hadn't seen them for years - now he's sat in on various oncologist and breast (cancer) surgeons consults and has seen them plenty of times in the last 5 weeks (before they will be removed and rebuilt completely in October this year, following 6 months of chemotherapy to zap the tumours first!)

So I will be getting a boob job eventually, but not quite the way I imagined!

All of that is to say, it has really put things into perspective for me! I worry less about what they look like and only now want them to be healthy rather than pert.

Having said all of that, my advice from the journey I started on is this:

  • Join "Breast Buddies" forum - it is a goldmine of information.
  • Go and see at least 3 surgeons.
  • Use BAAPS or BAPRAS surgeons only - they have a 2 year guarantee for anything like capsular contraction etc.
  • Be prepared with lots of questions etc - I was told different "solutions" to my problems by all of them, which can be quite confusing so it's best to be prepared.

Good luck!
