Anywhere I go to on the high street, all I find is low waist jeans AND SKINNY, I hate low waist when all you see is your muffin top, and I don't consider myself to have the body fit for "skinny". Is there anything around where you find the "normal" high waist/ straight cut jeans at an affordable price? Sainsbury's and all the major retailers used to be full of them (asda used to have the "wonder jeans" a couple of years ago, that will shape your body to perfection) , now it looks like a battle to find something "decent" that is not low waist, skinny, or ripped. Has anyone seen anything nice around?

Marks place. As I would also love to know!

minibmw2010 · 30/04/2015 10:18

New Look do some great High Waisted Skinnies but they are v elastic and not skintight so I feel like are more like just high waisted jeans.

Dorothy perkins. They're also stretchy and comfortable.

TongueBiter · 30/04/2015 10:27

M&S -even my teen daughters complimented me.

tortoisesarefab · 30/04/2015 10:33

Gap? I got some from there recently

HelenF350 · 30/04/2015 10:51

I got a fab pair of Gok ones in Sainsburys a couple of years ago but they haven't had them in since Hmm. I'm really hoping I can get back into them after this baby, I love them.

BringMeTea · 30/04/2015 11:20

I like the look of a few on here. No idea on sizing though. Sorry for messy link, dunno how to rename on my ipad.

Thank you for the suggestions, I am absolutely desperate to find some kind of "normal" jeans that fit me. I really need to buy a few ( I am completely out of jeants).

Next High Waist Slim Leg?

ILikeToClean · 30/04/2015 13:26

I have just got some Next High Waisted Slim Leg and they are great, not too Simon Cowell-esque but just sit on your waist so you don't bend over and show the world your rear. I have both the dark and mid wash and they are really nice. £30.

gonegrey56 · 30/04/2015 14:02

I have just bought some great jeans from GAP, a new style called "Slim Straight", described as mid-rise and stretch. Amazingly flattering, cut quite high (so no muffin top), no rips and fab colours.
If you register online with GAP, you get discount vouchers etc. Bought mine with a 20% discount. I like them so much I am going to get a second pair.

yazzy85 · 30/04/2015 14:03

I have a pair from Gap and recently ordered some from Boden which are lovely as well. I prefer them to the tight skinny jeans especially as the weather warms up they will be more comfortable.

Laquila · 30/04/2015 15:10

I have a brilliant high-waisted black pair from Gap - they're described as skinnies but they're slim skinnies rather than drainpipe. I bloody love them.

leedy · 30/04/2015 15:30

Recommend Gap as well, also they have 30% off almost everything at the moment.

fredabear · 30/04/2015 15:33

I have some Gok ones and gap real straight and I have just ordered these from M&S having seen them in store, will report back

Bunbaker · 30/04/2015 15:34

I find Gap mid rise too low rise for me. I think I must be quite high waisted though.

mrsnlw2012 · 30/04/2015 15:36

I got some great Boyfit style jeans from the clearance section on the Next website, They sit nicely over my belly and I can actually walk in them not shuffle!

SecretSquirrels · 30/04/2015 15:39

I've tried all of the above and they are all too skinny for me. I can't bear jeans that are tight to the ankle. M&S all gape on the waist.
Cotton traders fit me. High waist and straight leg but not skinny.

Piffpaffpoff · 30/04/2015 15:41

M&S lift and sculpt straight legs are working for me at the moment.

Bunbaker · 30/04/2015 15:45

"M&S all gape on the waist"

Yes, I find M & S tend to cater more for apple shapes than pears. They did used to stock a range of jeans for curvy women (by that I mean women with waists and hips, not a euphemism for being overweight), but I haven't looked at M & S jeans for a while.

I have a pair of Levi demi curve slim straight jeans that are very flattering on me. I could do with a slightly higher rise, but they aren't too bad.

FestiveRoad · 30/04/2015 15:57

Just bought these
Per Una Roma Rise Straight Leg Jeans

and they fit really well.

I struggle to find jeans and trousers that are straight, on the waist and don't gape too much at the back, but I'm really pleased with the fit of these.

Bunbaker · 30/04/2015 16:42

I would be interested to see how they fare after several washes Festive My experience of M & S jeans is that they usually shrink.

FestiveRoad · 30/04/2015 17:12

I read quite a lot of the reviews Bunbaker and the negatives seemed to be mostly about erratic leg length and some colour loss. I hope they don't shrink much! I guess that many will submit a review before they wash them, but the ones that mentioned colour loss didn't mention shrinkage. (Crosses fingers).

I gambled on the medium length, but they are a bit too long really. The top fits well. I'm going to buy the short length and then return one or the other.

I'm just relieved to find something to wear that fits reasonably well.

OMG Ladies, you are truly stars, thank you so much for so many recomendations, we are in Sydenham area, very close to Catford and Lewisham (SE London) I will have a look at the shops mentioned that I can get close to the house, I definitely have to get something before summer.
