What would you do? (going grey.. with pic)

I have grey/white streaks in the parting of my hair, underneath the top layers at the sides and a fair few scattered throughout. So, I thought, sod it, I'll go grey...and haven't had a full colour for 7 months, just a few tiny highlights to break up the colour line.

However I am wavering as the old colour is brassy and I'm not sure the grey doesn't make me look half dead! I was hoping that it would be much MORE grey in which I'd persevere and hope to look classy (ha!) but it's mostly darkish still .

Do I a)persevere b) get it coloured, and if so..what? I do NOT want to go blonde.. I tend to go pink a lot and blonde looks awful on me. I used to love a real henna auburn but am not sure if I'm too old (47 and knackered!)

Any suggestions?

I am also half tempted to get it cut off pixie style but am worried I'll look like a bloke....

I've gone grey/white & had a chop. People tell me I look younger. I don't think they are all lying.
I got my hairdresser to help with the odd blonde highlight. I agree that if you have persevered keep going.

I'm 38. Started finding odd greys at 22 and am now very grey at my temples, through the top sections of my hair but less so in the under sections.
I tried salon colours and home colours to hide it but the reality was I needed to do it every 2 - 3 weeks and I hated doing it. I also felt the brown colour looked harsh and unnatural.

I let it grown out by just having a few light brown / caramel / blonde highlights put through the top sections every 8 - 10 weeks. I don't touch the under sections of my hair. They are my natural brown with greys.
The highlights help blend in the greys but certainly don't cover every one I have. A good hairdresser will advise on colours that suit you and the re growth will be minimial compared to full colour.
