Have you ever returned to hairdresser as you are unhappy with your colour?

Hi just hoping for some advice, got my hair coloured a couple of days ago and not very happy. I did go for a bit of a change and went from blonde to brown but was hoping for light brown and it's very dull and has a tiny bit of a green tinge to it. Want to phone hairdresser and tell them, but will I have to pay to get it sorted? It cost quite a bit to get it done, and I don't want to offend the hairdresser she is really sweet. It will be so embarrasing going back if she has to correct it because it will be like I'm complaining about her then sittings while she does it again, that would be awful.

Any of you had this happen, what do you suggest?

Yes, she was horrible to me and blamed me git the colour not taking. She re did it though.

Twice I have done this.

The first time was before my wedding and it was too blonde. The hairdresser was fine about it and darkened it a bit.

The second time some red highlights didn't take. The hairdresser herself told me to give it a couple if days then go back if I wanted her to do it again. I did and it worked much better.

In both cases, they have been absolutely fine about it and I haven't had to pay extra.

Yes, it was a hairdresser I used regularly. I don't usually complain, but it looked awful. I rang and said I really didn't like it.

She fitted me in for a recolour and I didn't pay. Not awkward, and I went back again afterwards.

From an outsiders perspective I suspect it is better for her if you call and ask for it to be redone than go round with hair you dislike/ that doesn't look good,
(a bad advert for her) and possibly don't go back again.

Good luck.

Yes. Had same hair dresser. They were nice but I felt awkward as hell. Going back next week but to different person.
Colour is too expensive to put up with if its wrong though. I would still go back.

I had some highlights a few years ago. First time I'd been to this particular hairdresser but not my first highlights. I knew from previous hairdressers that I needed a strong mixture for my hair to lighten, but she ignored me and did her own thing.
Highlights were hardly noticeable. I complained and asked to have them done again. She said no. I'd have to pay again. So I went elsewhere and paid again Sad

As a hairdresser myself I know what the problem is , the reason it is dull and greeney is because the colur didn't have enough prepigment in it , it is a mistake that could be made but not if you were experienced with colour. I would prefer you came back if I had made that mistake ,I bet she knew the minute it was washed off , I would know x

My hair is blonde with tones.
I asked my hairdresser of several years to give me some brighter blonder flashes (foils). She was busy and could style my hair ok but asked if it was ok for colourisi to do the foils. No problem.

As colourist was working I noticed she was weaving and putting fine colour, whereas I always get slices. 1/4 already done so let her continue. What finished it was the same colour as my original. No tones whatsoever. Hair much too monotone and far too blonde. I commented that it was blonder than usual.

After two days phoned and said I hated the colour. Was given an appt for next day. She added caramel and chocolate flashes. Fabulous. No charge.

Mine was a bit too gingery instead of ash brown so I called and asked for it to be redone. The manager said she was away for a week and he'd do it. He recoloured it and told me he didn't have time to dry it. I walked home with wet hair.

Needless to say I didn't ever go back...

TheFlyingFauxPas · 24/04/2015 09:35

Twice as I have the sort of hair that if you fine weave you can't bloody see highlights - I'd said I want great stonking yes I can see them slices but still were done so fine you couldn't see em! So twice went back - they were fine - no charge and I was happy with result :)

polyhymnia · 24/04/2015 14:18

Yes, I have been back twice to Danuel Galvin who, though they are supposed to be one of top salons for colour, had on both occasions left my blonde hair too 'ashy' after highlights - an effect which I'd specifically said I didn't want.

Both times they redid it without charge - as I think was reasonable.

Carlywurly · 24/04/2015 21:15

Bloody hell I think I need to go where you all go. Fine weaves and ashy is what I actually want..

Millie3030 · 25/04/2015 14:09

I think I'm too scared to go back, too many replies of being told no, or being told you will have to pay or walking home with wet hair. How awful! It's such an expensive thing to do but there seems to be no proper policy when you are unhappy with the colour.

I have possibly left it too long now as well as it's been over a week. Sad
