Please help me find some jeans/chinos for my lanky DS (26waist 34 inside leg)

I know this is quite a common problem and there are posts about this from a few years back, but I'm really struggling to find 13 year old DS any trousers or jeans. He measures a 26 (27 at a push). All of the men's 28s we've tried (with the exception of Topman skinny fit) are far too voluminous round the body, as he is very skinny.

He needs a 34 inside leg and I can't find any brands which do a 26/27 or even a slim 28 in waist with more than a 32 leg. Here's some of the more obvious places I've tried:

  • Levi youth - not long enough even in age 16.
  • Next
  • M&S
  • ebay
  • Jack Wills

Does anyone else have any suggestions please for dressing a boy who's shaped like a 2 pin plug? Thanks in advance!

(Oh by the way, my last resort will be Levis girls' skinny jeans, but DS will take some persuading, as he's very nervous of being teased for wearing girls' clothes...unless of course I can find some girls' jeans that are not marked as such.)

Try Boden. My DS wears 28 but with a belt! Same thing but he had to go for the belt option. He wears Levi's.

Primark!

SoupDragon · 22/04/2015 18:44

Esprit do 34" leg but their waist starts at a 28". They have a variety of different fits including skinny. Delivery and returns are free though so ordering lots and trying them isn't a problem.

smugmumofboys · 22/04/2015 18:44

12 year old DS1 wears 28 inch skinny jeans from Burton. Worth a try?

SoupDragon · 22/04/2015 18:45

Those are in the adult section - I don't think the boys would be long enough.

As already said, Primark do have 26" waist and short/regular/long lengths.

Fierceflora · 22/04/2015 18:47

I always buy the top man ones. However I have also been known to buy the primark skinny women's ones size 6!

blub · 22/04/2015 18:47

I feel your pain. My 15 year old needs 28" waist, can do 30" with a belt but could really do with a 36" leg. And he's still growing. The only 36" leg I've found started at 34" waist! Primark was good but it was pot luck as to whether they had 28" w and 34" leg in.

HerRoyalNotness · 22/04/2015 18:51

How about GAP? I've just looked and they still do adjustable waists.

gap jeans 8yo is 24.5" in seam, not sure how much it increases per year of age.

Fletcherl · 22/04/2015 19:45

We have had luck with Zara and h and m.

iwantgin · 22/04/2015 20:02

H & M do 34 leg. I think they start at a 28" waist.

My DS is a 30" waist, 34" inside leg. they are hard enough to find. I got him some from GAP recently though.

everythingsgoingsouth · 22/04/2015 20:36

wow, I spend half my life looking for trousers for my DS, waist 28, leg 34.
it must be hit and miss what's in stock because the best I've got has been new look, they were 30 waist though, with a 34 leg.
good luck.

Fozzleyplum · 22/04/2015 20:36

Thank you all so much for your suggstions. There are some really helpful ideas here that I'd never have thought of. Am off to look online at Esprit and Boden and I predict a shopping trip this weekend.

Hollister do 28×34 which could work in a slim fit.

fannyfanakapan · 22/04/2015 21:22

Have a look at Asda - I just bought my skinny child (12) age 13-14 skinny jeans with elasticated waistband.

burnishedsilver · 22/04/2015 21:22

Abercrombie

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/04/2015 21:47

Watching - i bought my 15yo DS a pair of Primark jeans iin the smallest waist ( 28") and longest leg (32"). They hung off him , he had to tuck his shirt in and were too short Shock

Little git won't go shopping with me or Heaven Forbid try things on in shops, so I'll need to look online for him.

i'll look in H&M (DD can help me source something)
DS reckons he'll make 6'

Fozzleyplum · 22/04/2015 22:20

Burnished - the Hollister ones look great - although they've sold out of all the 26/28 x 34 online, but I'll try one of the shops.

I'm in Ireland so I'm being directed to the hollister eu website not the UK one. I'm seeing 6 pairs of jeans come up in 28×34 but none in 26×34 so I can't say for sure if they make a 26×34.

Gillybobs · 22/04/2015 23:25

My son wears the topman skinny jeans in a 28 long, they look like a nice slim fit on him rather than actually skinny, but so much better than normal jeans look

Financeprincess · 23/04/2015 00:15

I used to have a very skinny boyfriend and he swore by Lacoste jeans. Perhaps French men are thinner than the British variety (Lacoste is a French label; he was from Wakefield!).

They are £££ though.

Fozzleyplum · 23/04/2015 12:29

Gilly,DS is in Topman 28 L skinny at the moment. As you have found, they are a quite baggy fit, but at least there's not too much bunching round his body. Problem is, I can't see that they are doing any 34 legs in this waist size and he's nearly out of the 32s..
