shoes for when you're on your feet all day?

This isnt exactly a question about style etc but my feet are killing me!
I work in a shop for 10 hours a day, then come home and cook etc.
I am really struggling with finding shoes that I can wear all day without my feet/calves/knees hurting so bad. Its really beginning to get me down.
Any ideas please? I have slightly fallen arches as well which doesnt help.

How smart do you need to be? I think Skechers Go Walks would be good but they are probably a bit too informal.

ElizabethHoover · 20/04/2015 06:55

Oh Lordy. You need to go to that sandals thread. Thousands of threads

ElizabethHoover · 20/04/2015 06:55

I mean links

TisILeclerc · 20/04/2015 06:58

I was about to say that I work in a nursing environment and wear crocs for just the reasons you describe.

However, that's not really going to cut it in a shop is it? Grin

OurGlass · 20/04/2015 07:00

I work in a nursing enviroment and wear Crocs. I know they aren't the sexiest but they are so comfortable.

bblondemoment · 20/04/2015 07:59

Same environment as previous two however I wear foot glove from dear old M&S, they're honestly like putting your fav slippers on x

burnishedsilver · 20/04/2015 08:14

Fit flops. There are a number if styles, not all sandals. They're not the prettiest shoe ever but I can stay on my feet all day in them.

Orangeanddemons · 20/04/2015 08:16

Brogues are your friend. I'm a teacher, I suffer from aching feet and legs when I'm working all day. Brogues stopped this, as they support your feet properly. I find Footglove really uncomfortable. Slip on shoes don't work for me at work, they don't give enough support

yazzy85 · 20/04/2015 08:16

The Sketchers trainers with memory foam are very comfortable. You can get them in black if they are ok with your work uniform.

MiloCat · 20/04/2015 14:22

Fit flops or crocs. Ok, they be er going to win style awards but Crocs do some surprisingly ok shoes/boots/sandels now.

Gem124 · 20/04/2015 18:03

I'm on my feet same as you and my go to shoes are either padders or Clark's.. Not pretty but so comfy!

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/04/2015 18:12

Hotter. Comfiest shoes ever.

catkin14 · 20/04/2015 20:15

Thanks for all that. Shop is mine so i can wear what i like Grin.
I looked at sketchers but worried i might get smelly feet?

i hadnt thought of fitflops or crocs tho!
I will investigate.

I worked all day in a kitchen and loved my sketchers go walks.

They aren't exactly pretty but in black might be ok for you.

I used to stick mine in the washing machine on a low delicate 30 minute wash every now and then. They lasted me ages.

SurlyCue · 20/04/2015 20:20

I love my birkenstock clogs. They do more formal shoes too, often on sale if you check their website.

DidgeDoolittle · 20/04/2015 21:59

I have fallen arches and all sorts of foot problems that make them ache at the end of the day. My rheumatologist kept telling me to wear lace ups with a one inch heel. I ignored him for years as I was too vain. However, I eventually gave in and bought some. He was right, the support they give stops your feet and legs from aching. I wear brogues, Birkenstock or lace up fit flop shoes.

Orangeanddemons · 21/04/2015 07:07

Same here. I wore ballet pumps for years. Investing in a pair of brogues was a life changing event really.

WilburIsSomePig · 21/04/2015 07:11

Orange ballet pumps wrecked my feet! I had terrible plantar facitis for a couple of years and the doc told me that such flat shoes are terrible for your feet as they give bugger all support. I really struggle to find nice shoes that don't make me want to cry!

MadisonMontgomery · 21/04/2015 09:14

People who are saying brogues, which brands?

metoo22 · 21/04/2015 10:13

Clarks Hamble oak are very comfy. I wear them with orthotics.
Hamble Oak

MiloCat · 22/04/2015 11:28

And these in white.

Joyfulldeathsquad · 22/04/2015 11:30

My Toms seen me right when I was heavily pregnant and teaching. The sole is cusioned under your foot arch and they were great
