Please help me find some boots!

Came home empty handed yesterday and I'm beginnig to wonder if what I want exists...

I need some new plain black leather ankle boots, with a bit of a heel (about 1-2 inches high), not stilletto. Loads of places had some in the £30-40 range but they didn't look like they would last very long... I saw some lovely ones by Jones the bootmaker but they were £95 - too ££ for me. I need something in between, price -wise. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Look at www.clarks.co.uk

Go to women > boots > smart and there are loads!

Let me know which ones you like (if any) and I can be nosy

MamaG · 04/11/2006 08:31

You're either lost in the website or ignoring me

KTeepee · 04/11/2006 08:34

I have looked in Clarkes and there are a couple of pairs which are ok but not making me go "wow" - but I know I will probably end up buying there as it is local and I won't be able to bring myself to go further afield again...

The Montego ones are closest to what I want but can't see them in my local branch - unless they are different to what I think (hard to tell from the website)

can i persuade you to just buy the Jones boots?

I've got a few pairs from Jones and they are absolutely fantastic. They are worth the extra money as they are so comfortable and look great year after year. A worthy investment.

KTeepee · 04/11/2006 09:08

i am sort of tempted if I thought they would last for a few years - I have told dh that if I don't find anything else I like he may have to buy them for me for Christmas - but I would really like to buy some before that....

Found the Montego ones in my local Clarkes after all - bu they look awful in RL - so back to searching again...

How about these from Next

The Black Tramline Ankle Boots at the bottom

JonesTheSteam · 04/11/2006 16:48

Or the black soft ankle boots on the bottom RH corner

JackieNo · 04/11/2006 16:48

How about these ? Also, if you have a Scholl shop near you - go in. I was in one today, and they have a lot of nice looking boots.

£45 in M&S. I have had mine for over 3 years and still look like new. Bought some similar brown ones last week for same price.

Boots

busybusymum · 04/11/2006 17:47

I got a pair (looks just like the first picture) from Brantano's last year. They were about £40, they had a lot of wear last winter and still look new.

Blondilocks · 04/11/2006 18:00

schuh have nice boots

Blondilocks · 04/11/2006 18:00

Also I got some for £25 in Dorothy Perkins last yr (they were leather) & they've lasted really well.

KTeepee · 05/11/2006 13:43

Jones, the first pair you linked to I will get if I can't find anything else (have tried on the second pair but don't suit my wide feet...). The reason I am holding back is I bought a similar pair from Next last winter and the heel fell off the first time I wore them...

Thanks for all the other links, will look through them later when i am child free (but don't have a Brantano or Schuh near me and really need to try them on in RL...)

TheHighwayCod · 05/11/2006 13:47

ooh montego very dull ktp

KTeepee · 05/11/2006 13:51

Yes they were not nice in RL. But I do want something very plain...

OP posts:
TheHighwayCod · 05/11/2006 13:54

why

KTeepee · 05/11/2006 13:55

I think all the ones on the other thread are too flat - I have seen loads of nice flat ones in the shops (but could I find any last year, no!) but I want a bit of a heel - to replace a pair I have had for years, mainly for wearing going "out"

JonesTheSteam · 05/11/2006 14:38

KTeePee - I have had quite a few pairs of boots from Next over the years, and that has never happened to me.

Currently have one pair that have lasted 4 years - not ones I wear every day, but I still wear them at least once or twice a week.

So don't let that put you off!!!

MamaG · 05/11/2006 14:39

Ive always found NExt boots good. Give them another try.

TheHighwayCod · 05/11/2006 16:24
