I always struggle with jackets/coats in springtime. Please help - I've got a 40th weekend coming along and have no idea what I should wear.

My go to is a cropped black blazer with 3/4 sleeves, I also have a cream one so either goes with the majority of my wardrobe :-)

Agree with gem that a blazer is always good. Works with dresses, jeans, etc. Sometimes a leather jacket can work, depending on your outfit and also how casual/formal you want to look.

Leather (bike

I have this jacket and wear it with skinny jeans and a top.

Leather biker
Jersey biker
Or I have a little cotton bomber jacket from French Connection, which works quite well with jeans and heels for a casual night out.
I'd love a more tux-esque one, but am struggling to find the 'right' one.

Leather jacket if not too dressy. Blazer if a bit more formal.

Blazer or denim jacket if it's casual

I popped in to a Gap outlet at the weekends . They had a light denim bomber style jacket . It was on offer. They also had a tweedy one in the sale section which had a nice lining that would keep you warm when the nigh draws in. It was the only one so hit and miss

Short belted trench coat in navy or black cotton

Thanks! I like the idea of a blazer, but I haven't seen any I like. Any recommendations?

Jacket??? For a girls night out??????
You are obviously not a Northener!!!

However, if you insist on being so soft there are some lovely jackets in Sainsburys at the moment
