Still in search of the Holy Grail; wide fitting sandals

...that don't make me look like a geography teacher.

I'm off to Seville next week so will be pounding the pavements in heat.

Every single year I buy at least 2 pairs of sandals which end up rubbing my feet and making me miserable.

Please can anyone find me a pair of WIDE FITTING sandals which aren't horrible? Ideally with a lowish heel. don't care what colour.

Have you looked at SimplyBe? I know they are a bit naff but they do have some nice sandals. I have very fat feet EEE and have had some nice ones from there (and some shocking ones!) but they do an E width too.

RingtheBells · 15/04/2015 18:54

i've got these, they aren't sold as being wide fit but they are quite wide, a lot of the reviewers think so to, depends how wide fit you are.

Next have these in wide fit, I did order the normal fit but they were too tight, the leather was soft though, I'm considering the wider ones myself.

I have wide feet too and boughg the Clarks Roya Hannah last year after someone recommended them on here. They are not advertised as being 'wide' but they are quite wide fitting and so so comfortable. Available again this year...

I have last years version of these and quite like them. After struggling to find comfortable wide fitting shoes all my life my standards are probably quite low though.

I live in Birkenstocks for most of the summer.

CoperCabana · 15/04/2015 19:03

Birkie how wide are your feet as I have been looking at some Birkie clogs but not sure they will fit!

birkiekid · 15/04/2015 19:08

I love my Birkie clogs, Coper. I would say I am an E fit. I can very occasionally wear regular width shoes but it really depends on the style. Much more comfortable in wide fit.

I have lots of room in the Birkie clogs. I wear the Boston style.

Birkenstock do make a wide fit but I've never tried it. Always have plenty of room in the regular.

TheFairyCaravan · 15/04/2015 19:12

I've got these in standard fit and they are quite wide, so I'd imagine the wide would be ample. I know they're closed in, but they are really comfy. I'm taking them to the Canaries next week.

I like these too.

TongueBiter · 15/04/2015 19:20

Hotter (I know, I know!) have a couple of pairs of acceptable sandals - honest!

Mumblechum1 · 15/04/2015 19:42

Thanks very much everyone! Am sitting down with a cake now to look at them all Smile

I have really wide feet. 'Feet like paddles', my Mum says. Er, thanks.
They are not cheap, but I LOVE my saltwater sandals. I wore them non-stop for four days on a long weekend break last year when they were brand new, and they didn't hurt one bit.
They are very flat though, so if that's not your thing, then they're no good. Otherwise I do find Clark's good for wide feet, generally.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/04/2015 19:52

I agree with Saltwater, my dds have really wide feet with high insteps and they wear them. I'm buying myself (same feet as the dds) some this year, although i wish they came with a slightly thicker sole. They do in the children's ones but not the adults.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/04/2015 19:55

I had Clarks "Linnet" last year, which are very Geography teacher, but in a good way (rather Margaret Howell-esque) and I'll be wearing them again as they are the most comfortable sandals I've ever had, with their thick springy sole. They can be found on ebay now.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/04/2015 20:12

I'm looking too, I have very wide feet, high insteps and need arch support, so Saltwaters are out, they look completely flat, i think they would be very unflattering on me anyway as my legs are a bit on the sturdy side. might have to go and browse clarks and m&s.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/04/2015 20:14

Does anyone know of a shop that sells a really good range of Birkies? I find buying shoes online a very frustrating process, much easier if you can just go to a shop, but many seem to just have a few.

britishbakeoffblues · 15/04/2015 20:35

Have you looked in Evans? They tend to have wide fitting shoes, as do BHS.

fredabear · 15/04/2015 20:37

I have very wide feet and have just bought these which might just get me out of my gizehs this summer

fredabear · 15/04/2015 20:40

Also tried these with a lower heel, which fit well, but I preferred the others

UpNorthAgain · 15/04/2015 20:42

My feet are practically square very wide, and I find Fly London very comfortable and also stylish. I have boots, sandals and shoes Blush and they all fit well.

travailtotravel · 15/04/2015 20:45

I have a pair from taking shape that are really comfy and i think they're on offer at the moment, too.

FOOTGLOVEâ„¢
Stain Awayâ„¢ Suede Wide Fit Stiletto Mid Heel Twisted T-Bar Sandals

I followed the M n s link and found these which I think may do the job and also these:www.marksandspencer.com/suede-gem-stone-embellished-sandals/p/p22366145

I'll also try several of the other suggestions

Thanks all Smile

I've bought these recently from Clarks, they are the comfiest sandals ever. They come in wide fit, and the sole is padded and lovely. Also in black.

DelphiniumBlue · 17/04/2015 20:46

Have just seen that someone already linked to these. On reflection, maybe mine are not wide fit, but they feel it - I am E/EE and they are perfect. Wear them at work, on my feet all day.

WhiteHairReally · 17/04/2015 21:30

Me and my fan feet walked into a large branch of M and S and were very pleasantly surprised by the wide (ho ho) choice of not totally ghastly wide sandals there, but the OP has found this already.
