Hi all,

I really need help on what I can do with my hair !! No matter how well I dress, my hair makes me look frumpy and it's starting to depress me Sad

I have very thick, wavy, shoulder-blades length hair... it's tends to curl when wet... I also have to deal with a bit of frizz at times...
I wish I had straight hair, but don't have the time to straighten it. A couple of weeks back, I walked into John Lewis and they had a GHD counter... I tried them but was put off when the shop assistant said that with my thickness I would need at least 45 mins to straighten the whole lot, given my thickness !Shock

I really need someone to tell which haircut would suit my face.... is there some place I can go to ... like a hair style consulting place ? or a place that will show me how to style my hair ?

The only time I like my hair is when I get a blow dry and straightening done at the salon...

on most days, I just tie my hair up with a massive clip... I desperately need a change ...

TIA ...

Your hair is probably curly , you need products to make it curl when dry . My hair is a mass of frizz without styling . Without being rude you need to make time . None of us wake up looking amazing ! ..People always comment on my hair but it takes time and effort . I have very thick hair and it doesn't take 45 mins to straighten . Practice makes perfect and also if i straighten it it stays straight for days so no need to do it daily . Please post a pic as it sounds like my hair before product and styling.

I've just seen the pics , my hair is at frizzier than yours when left alone !

lifeistooshort · 25/04/2017 14:50

My hair is similar to yours and I bought a brush similar to this one. Works amazingly and much better than straighteners

I have similar hair, and have just found the magic solution!!

Basically I've had a cut and had a lot of the volume taken out using thinning scissors. Now it feels a lot more like 'normal' hair and I can straighten it, or make the most of the curls by adding a leave-in conditioner and some Boots curl creme (£1.99- AMAZING!!) after washing, and my hair is lovely and curly, without too much frizz.

The technique to ask your hairdresser for is slithering. There was a huge mountain of hair on the floor, but still enough left. I always said I had enough hair for three people!

Please help! I've lived with more or less the same hair style for years. I wear so much hair lacquer as it don't stay in place cuz I like body. I'd love an easy hairstyle cuz when I can't do my hair I spend ages on it 😔 I would just love lovely hair I'm so depressed 😢

Goneblank38 · 26/09/2021 03:22

I think your hair is gorgeous OP.

skybluee · 26/09/2021 03:24

You have really nice hair.

I personally don't think you should have it cut short.

  • deep conditioning treatment
  • trim
  • maybe a side fringe?

Ugh! I didn't see the date.

Mandb05 · 26/09/2021 03:49

Don't know how

I have very thick fluffy hair and it looks best when in a ‘lob’ which can be shaped. Otherwise, if too long, the weight of it just drags it down. I’d suggest a bit shorter with longer layers. I leave mine to dry naturally then curl it with straighteners which takes about 15mins and will last a few days. I wash it maybe twice a week and this helps keep it in good nick, anything more and it gets b dry. Also, if shorter and in good condition it has a better chance of forming nice healthy waves so have the option of leaving it natural.

CoolShoeshine · 26/09/2021 09:03

Your hair is really nice. It would probably look great scrunched and dried with a diffuser like we did in the 80s!
Mine is similar but mega frizzy and I always straighten after washing. It does take a while but I do it in the evening front of the tv. Luckily my hair isn’t used to being washed a lot so I can go 5-6 days between washing. On days when I don’t wash my hair it depends on what sort of hair day I am having, sometimes I need to quickly run the straighteners over all of it, sometimes i just curl the ends under with the straighteners and sometimes I can just brush and go. I always tie my hair in a loose bun at night to keep tidy and never wash in the morning as I’d never get it fully dry before I went out and then it would frizz. I also swear by John Frieda miraculous recovery deep conditioner each time I wash, it’s too expensive to put over my whole head (I could easily go through a whole pot in two uses if I used it lavishly) so I use another conditioner and just run some of this over the top ends.

Mokkagirl · 22/09/2022 16:03

momtosp I have hair just like yours and its a nightmare. Whenever its humid outside my hair is like candy floss. I agree with StrawberryTallCake about the Redken All Soft Mega range. I also use John Frieda serum once dried to smooth hair out. You could also try Osmo deep moisture spray on damp hair and just leave hair to dry naturally. I have spent a fortune on products to find what suits my hair

Gr33ngr33ngr4ss · 22/09/2022 22:19

I have coarse thick frizzy hair and tresemme 7 day straight changed my life. The conditioner in the white tube. I can rough dry now and brush through whilst hot and it stays sleek but still with movement. It says use with straighteners but I mostly don't!
