Longish tops

Need to fill a wardrobe gap - leading on from a previous thread where several posters felt tunics were a bit twee, I'm looking for something to do the same job, ie at least crotch length to cover muffin belly, not too fitted, preferably jersey or maybe a fine knit.
Patterns are fine ( but not owls/butterflies/slogans) or plain would also be OK.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Sorry, didn't realise that had posted while I was still in the process of converting 5446's link above! I copied her link 'THESE' and got distracted before I could sort it!
Still great tops tho - hope they do them again in the autumn! Smile

You could try looking at Long tall sally. Plain 'T's etc are cut for taller women so longer in the body.
Avoid anything with long sleeves though as these are longer too so would swamp you.

Extra long layering tops from Hish are good as they are cotton. They also do long length vests. Some of their jumper dresses type things are quite good as tops without being a tunic shape - I am 5ft 10 though so might be a bit too long if you are shorter.

Baukjen and Me and Em both also do longish drapey tops.

At the really cheap end of the market H and M basics range includes a lot of plain long length cotton stuff for less than £10.

The top shop tunic tops are mostly not cotton so not ideal especially for summer but I have the blue and white stripes one which is cotton and if anything not fitted enough.

Mystery, could you link to the Hish (Hush?) tops?

mysteryfairy · 18/04/2015 18:23

hush long top

I went to matalan today (had a tip off about some wide leg trousers not yet on the website, which turned out to be ideal Smile).
They have a few "floaty", just over bum length tops, some polyester but some cotton/viscose, which looked ok if looking for longer length work tops without layering. I've bought one and if it's ok I'm going back for more!

Thanks mystery, nice top.

Marks and Spencer's link, but this one is a vest. Can't find the long sleeved one, maybe try in store on the sales rack?

On another thread vest tops from Dunnes online were recommended. They are £4 each, nice and long.

DelphiniumBlue · 19/04/2015 19:13

2fat, the Dunnes vest tops are fab, I bought a couple following advice from the other thread.

But I think I want a top as opposed to a vest/t shirt - t shirts do me no favours around the muffin area! Looking for something which will float over rather than cling.
Trawled round Brent X yesterday, still haven't seen anything I like :(

Also am anti pastels, especially shades of peach and yellow.

There are linen shirts out there, but they are boring...... and need ironing ... please, someone must have seen something nice somewhere!

this is polyester, but doesn't feel as horrible as some others. I've bought the white one (will be trying it out at work this week) but they also do it in black/moss green/coral colour.

I do prefer natural fabrics but I'm running out of options!
