Help with really, really grey hair!

Well, I've just been to the hairdressers (bloody monthly visit) to get rid of the grey roots. And when I say grey roots I mean about 3 inches regrowth in 4 weeks! My hairdresser basically told me that I am 99% grey which is very depressing as I am 41. My hair grows really fast so I am on a treadmill of hairdresser visits every 3 weeks as I'm a natural brunette. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to let it go grey just yet,I but I feel like I spend half my salary at the hairdresser and my free time! I've tried doing it myself but it looks horrendous. Help please!

I started going grey at 18. No way am I embracing my thin, see through hair. ..its not great or white, just invisible and as I have pale skin I look washed out and 90 ish.
I got off the every-third-saturday-at-the-hairdresser treadmill and do my own. Grey hair doesn't hold pigment well so I buy a lighter shade and leave it on longer so there's only about 3/4 inch max regrowth.
you may find your hair isn't actually growing that fast, rather the dye just doesn't last in your hair the full month.

I started off black, greys from my teens, went fully grey last year and then decided to go blonde and am very happy as a blonde. I do have very black eyebrows though, but I figured that what the hell I can just be a bit rock and roll...

It is much lower maintenance than black dye.

I love the platinum grey look .... But not quite ready to accept it myself!
I've been dying hair for 15 years due to grey, and I'm not yet 40 .....

I'm at the hairdresser every four weeks .... Tried to make it last longer but just can't. So I got the salon owner to suss out the colour, and applied it first time ...... Now I get one of the juniors to do it, so much cheaper.

Maybe does it depend on your skin tone? What colour looks best on your face? A lot of young people are rocking silver hair. Maybe you could just do some silver tones and make it look done on purpose.

I think your hair colour really suits you! I imagine going lighter covers grey more easily then going dark...IF you colour it that is :-)
