Jumpsuit - Will I look like a Tellytubby?

Ordered this from M&S

Bit worried that as a being a bit of a big girl being 5ft 8in and a good size 18 I may end up looking like Tinky Winky.

Also it is made of viscose, will this be too warm for Easter hols in Cancun.

Please tell me if I am being deluded.

I think it's lovely and as you're tall, you should be able to carry it off. I'd wear it with orange suede heels and maybe a tribal print clutch.

RL20 · 23/03/2015 21:53

It's lovely, and I agree that on a tall woman it would be quite flattering.

lavenderhoney · 23/03/2015 22:01

Can you go and try it on? The waist band would worry me as it looks elastic which might itch, especially if it's hot. And it needs heels- will you wear heels on hols? I avoid heels when away, although I pack them!

MeMyElfandI · 24/03/2015 12:00

Sorry ladies for late response, I ended up unwell last night so only catching up now.

I have now tried on and it is a cross over style fastening so no elastic. Seems quite drapey so no clinging to lumps and bumps. Definitely needs heels. Like the idea of orange ones as suggested by Frankie. I have orange wedges but they don't really suit the jumpsuit so thinking a block heel or something finer perhaps.

If anyone has any other ideas on how to accessorise it I'd appreciate some help. Hitting the big 50 this year and with the weight piling on and my mother having passed away recently after a long illness I have lost my confidence and style mojo. Don't want to be the fat frumpy one on hols.

That sounds a tough time:(

What colour hair do you have? And what's your usual style? And will you take it and wear it lots or just jam your suitcase with heels and an outfit you wear only once!:) how about gold heels, gold clutch and lots of chain necklaces and a massive pair of sunnies?

MeMyElfandI · 24/03/2015 20:20

Well I got the jumpsuit. Got it home put it on then sat in it for about 15 mins. Although it looked quite good on it creases terribly (that's viscose for you) and that will just annoy me too much so it is going back. Pity as I quite liked the style. But perhaps as Lavender said it may have been a one hit wonder.

Any one got any other ideas to glam up a middle aged, fat, blonde who desperately doesn't want to to descend into frumpiness any further.

That's a shame - do you have your eye on anything else or been on Pinterest?

If you are worried about your hols, get your hair done, mani/ pedi and even a tan? You could also quite easily book into a beauty place on arrival- probably cheaper which will help you feel better.

Jewelled flat sandals always look nice, I think, with anything day or night.

I love a good jumpsuit......I've just received this one......will I look like I've come to sort your plumbing? Grin

On the bright side, American are not stylish and as they are the mainstay in Cancun, it will be baggy tshirts and shorts galore so you have a low base to start from! It will be hot and humid. I always go for long or short cotton empire line dresses like this m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/phase-eight-fran-faded-stripe-maxi-dress-blue/p1914241?un_jtt_v_pdp=yes&un_jtt_v_from_product=un_product_2#page_loaded

but i am an apple.

I saw someone wearing a khaki top tucked into tapered trousers the same colour a few days ago and thought it looked great, gave the illusion of a jumpsuit but more versatile.

I've just bought a bright yellow handbag (cheap from newlook as I am supposed to be on a spending ban) and I love it, it's really summery.

frankietwospots · 25/03/2015 08:44

...and bright yellow looks fab with khaki. Good suggestion!
