Advice on boots to wear with trousers

I am definitely not going for the 80's revival type ankle boots. I'm sure they look great on some people but they are not me.

Something a bit rugged and edgy (but not too edgy) would suit me. I'm not an overly feminine dresser (but I don't wear boiler suits and lumber jack shirts either ). I suppose I am grown up grunge

Any suggestions?

I wear Wrangler rigger-type boots (like these but in brown) - but actually Clarks have quite a good selection - these are gorgeous and would look great with skirts too, in a rugged not-too-girly way.

I like both of those a great deal MrsB, but thinking they might be a bit too full length boot to wear with trousers (unless quite baggy trousers)......ummm (musing to myself)
