Wanted: long lasting, medium/full coverage foundation with dewy finish?

Does one exist? I'm still on my HG quest. Double wear light does it for me during the winter although I am now a bit flat in it and looking for something more radiant for spring/ summer. I was thinking of trying the radiant primers but then figure that the double wear light is only doing its job by being matt on top and then cancelling out any glow?! Maybe?!
I have normal but sometimes sensitive skin if that's any help?

It's not too bad actually for the price. It layers up well too so you can build the coverage easily.

noddyholder · 21/03/2015 08:51

I have started using Laura Gellar spackle under foundation and on its own too looks amazing like new skin. Can't recommend it enough

Howaboutthisone · 22/03/2015 09:31

I've never heard of her- thanks!

I am a dedicated DW light wearer but find that as I'm getting older its a bit flat. I bought a really cheap luminizing moisturiser and I pat it on lightly over my DWL on the areas I want to look dewy. It really works.

Howaboutthisone · 23/03/2015 18:43

I wouldn't have thought of that. Do you mind sharing the moisturiser brand?

I'm glad I found this thread as I was going to post pretty much the same thing!
Usually my go-to foundation MAC Studio Fix Fluid. I use it all of the time but I'm growing bored of it now, which is a shame as I don't find the price too bad for a higher-end foundation.
Or maybe I'm just not applying it correctly any more, or maybe my skins changed I don't know!

Recently I've tried testers of Dior Star which is relatively dewy, although I found it a bit too runny for me. Bare in mind I've only been used to MAC, so I am trying to broaden my horizons! They call it full coverage I think, but I'd say it's more medium.

I've heard good things about Nars' new foundation. I believe it's called 'All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation'. I'd love to try it but I haven't got a Nars counter in my town! And I haven't used Nars before so no idea what my shade would be to order online.

Good luck!

RL20 · 23/03/2015 20:22

Howaboutthisone I'd be interested to hear the luminizing moisturiser too. If the poster doesn't get back though you could always try a highlighting cream, or even mixing a little bit in with the foundation. I have a St Tropez one, that I've just remembered!

Howaboutthisone · 23/03/2015 20:53

RL that's quite a coincidence as my go to before the DW light was the mac studio fix fluid! I did love it but always felt the colour match wasn't quite right. I'm thinking about getting matched again on that for next autumn. I do have some of the double wear all day glow bb cream which I've mixed in sometimes. It does give a slightly different look but I'd quite like to try something more dewy for summertime. I'll probably find one eventually and then complain that I'm too shiny GrinGrin

Yep I'm sure I'd be the same! One day I want to be glowy and natural, and the next day I want to be super matte! It doesn't help that I need/want full coverage too (acne scars and general redness/uneven skin tone!)
I don't know what it is with me and mac recently! I feel like the formulas changed, or my skin! I've noticed that it oxides more orangey now, even though I have used it for a few years. And as I haven't been using any tan, I've gone for a lighter colour, about 3 shades lighter than what I used to wear, and it still looks too dark! Blush

Tisgrand · 24/03/2015 00:55

Its Garnier Moisture Match Illuminating Light Lotion and it was half price in Tesco a couple of months ago. I bought it to use as a moisturiser on days I don't feel like wearing makeup but it was too shiney for me - I've spent a lifetime dealing with shiney oily skin. I'll stick to my Origins Vitazing for that even though its ridiculously spendy.

Strokethefurrywall · 24/03/2015 01:09

I use clarins beauty flash balm followed immediately by guerlain tenure de perfection. Not sure how pricey it is in UK but reasonable here.
The two together give an amazing finish, dewey without being greasy and very bright. Lasts all day too.

I've just discovered MACs mineral foundation and it is fantastic. The best foundation I've had in years and I've tried a lot, including an eye wateringly expensive one by By Terry which is nowhere near as good.

Also I do use Clarins beauty flash balm and/or the MAC primer underneath.

piercedprincess · 24/03/2015 09:50

Okay these are some low budget suggestions:

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation is lovely and gives great coverage. Also, for even fuller coverage their Lasting Finish foundation is lovely and creamy and makes your skin look fairly moist without powder.

It may sound mad but George by Asda make a Boost foundation, it's a gel serum which really does impart a fresh faced look when used sparingly.

Oh and I definitely agree with the Dermablend rec, when used lightly and without powder it's gorgeously creamy.

RL20 · 24/03/2015 10:10

Ladies after reading the comments on here, I'm interested in purchasing the Vichy Dermablend foundation (had never heard of it before!). On the reviews on Boots website some people are saying that it's a great foundation but they find it quite 'tacky' and doesn't set fully, and transfers easily. Would you say it's true? Thanks

mowglik · 24/03/2015 11:02

Agree with low end foundations Rimmel wake me up foundation, and also bourjois healthy mix serum gel foubdation is pretty glowy too

Try mixing in some liquid highlighter as well for all over glow, I used to use half and half of revlon skinlights unfortunately no longer available

Fcukfifa · 24/03/2015 12:03

I bought the Vichy dermablend foundation, I did get the face and body one by accident but thought I'd give it a go anyway and I love it. I need about a third of the amount I would normally use on top of number 7s illuminising liquid and apply with a damp beauty sponge. The coverage is great, it goes lovely and dewy (not sure if it's a combo of the illuminiser, damp sponge etc) and lasts all day. It also doesn't feel like I have anything on my skin.

I have 'bacne' too and got oh to apply it to my back before going out last week and it totally covered up every mark and lasted until my bath the next morning.

I tried topshops all over glow the other day and it looks beautiful, and will be my next purchase, think it was £9 or £10.

RL20 · 24/03/2015 15:41

I know this isn't my thread but thanks fcukfifa.
I'm really stuck between the Vichy Dermablend and Mac Face & Body!
Ooh I forgot about Topshop's Glow. I may have to test it!

Howaboutthisone · 24/03/2015 19:30

Yes- thank you!
I'm intrigued by the clarins flash balm too to be honest as I've used it in the past and couldn't understand what the fuss was about. How do you apply it? Maybe I was doing it wrong?Blush

I am a foundation whore/addict.

Today I'm wearing Clarins Skin Illusion which is lovely, had a positive comment from someone Shock , its dewy and I like it cos it sits nicely on my combination flaky on the sides face.

I also love YSL touch éclat foundation but the clarins one lasts all day long wheras I find the ysl one disappears on me.

Have you tried the l'oreal lumi one?

Howaboutthisone · 24/03/2015 21:27

I haven't tried that but am learning loads about ones I hadn't even heard of from this thread. There are so many I now want to try!

Thank you!

I recently bought the Bare Minerals Tinted Hydrating gel - love it! Light, dewy, excellent coverage for a tinted moisturizer, can be built up, long lasting. Love!

suzib · 24/03/2015 22:36

HD Brow foundation is fabulous. High coverage, similar to double wear without the drying effects. Lasts longer than vichy dermablend.
