Anyone want to dress a 7 month pregnant me for a wedding?

MrsClaustrophobic · 18/03/2015 20:42

I have no clue when it comes to clothes so really need some help. Please.

I am going to a wedding in May and I will be 8 months pregnant. I'm a big lass anyway and wear a size 18 so struggling to find something nice enough for the big day but also comfortable.

I hate my arms so need a cardigan or something to cover them up. I like knee length dresses and I'll be wearing flats as they are the only thing I will be able to wear all day.

Please help me out. What should I wear?

JoJoMamanBebe has nice wrap dresses for maternity wear. They have long sleeves and can be worn for nursing as well. I really like mine and wore it to a wedding when I was 38 weeks.

Wrap is a flattering style, imo.

MrsLettuce · 18/03/2015 20:49

Are there any colours you feel particularly strongly about? What sort of budget?

this has sleeves and is very pretty

MrsClaustrophobic · 18/03/2015 20:53

I do like a nice wrap dress as long as it isn't in too clingy a material as I have lots of lumps and bumps at the moment.

I always seem to go for colours like navy, purple, teal - trying to stay clear of black as it is a wedding. Ideally would prefer a dress around £50 or so but if I need cardigan/jacket etc then it'll probably be around £100 for the whole outfit (if possible)

That floral dress is very pretty but not sure I could pull it off as well as the model does.

I would hire something if I were you, I had a good experience with 'hire expectations' when I was a guest at a fairly formal wedding while about 8 months pregnant.

MrsClaustrophobic · 18/03/2015 20:59

Thanks for the JoJoMamanBebe recommendation. They had this one which could look nice with a navy cardigan - would it?

Just worried the print would make me look even bigger than I am!

Lots of nice dresses on ASOS it's just trying to put the actual outfit altogether with flat shoes etc that I seem to fall down at Blush

I think it would look good with a navy cardigan. I think Jojo is good with returns so you could always try it?

MrsLettuce · 18/03/2015 21:06

This (comes in 2 other colours and black too) could be nice, would be good in the summer after too, I think.

The spotty dress is alright but something with sleeves leaves a lot more room in the budget for shoes and the like.

TwiggyHeart · 18/03/2015 21:07

Give Isabella Oliver a go, lovely thick jersey that hangs nicely, I wore one to a wedding when DD2 was 8 days old, paid £75 and sold on ebay for £30 so worth keeping an eye out for one on there. ASOS also has some good dresses but they can be on the shorter side I found.

MrsLettuce · 18/03/2015 21:07

Also. There's nowt wrong with looking 'big' and certainly not at 8 months pregnant.

MrsClaustrophobic · 18/03/2015 21:11

I might order it and see what it looks like on.

Other options at the moment are these from ASOS.

Black and nude dress

Blush colour dress
(Although was trying to steer clear of black)

Navy lace dress
(As with the first dress I have no idea what I would wear over the top of this dress)

Ooh, lots of replies. Thanks so much.

I don't think there is any hiding my size MrsLettuce Grin

bargain loveliness

MrsClaustrophobic · 18/03/2015 21:17

I spotted that one MrsLettuce, it is lovely. Might order both of those JoJo dresses to see how they fit on me. They look like they could be dressed up or down.

Seraphine is a lovely brand. I have a colour block maternity/nursing dress by them and it drapes beautifully.

MrsLettuce · 18/03/2015 21:22

Oh, yes, I looked at that one but had meant to link to this, Confused

Do you have any shoes / bags / jewelery or a cover up you might be able to use? TBH I think if you need to buy the whole outfit, absolutely everything, you'll struggle for 100 if you go with a sleeveless dress for over, say, 20 - 25 pounds.

TwiggyHeart · 18/03/2015 21:23

I also wore a black lace overlay, half sleeve dress from ASOS to a wedding a few days before my due date and got lots of lovely comments (although may have been to avoid upsetting a 40 week pregnant woman...). Might be worth doing an ASOS order for lots of different styles as much easier to try on at home I found.

runningforfreedom · 18/03/2015 21:28

I think if you budget can stretch to it Isabella Oliver are fantastic
Something like this

Or this

www.isabellaoliver.com/uk/shop/maternity-clothes/maternity-dresses/olivia-maternity-dress-berry.htm

Both cover your arms and come in some very nice colours

I would pair with some open toe flats that are a nice mix of shoe/sandal maybe gold or silver and a matching clutch bag

Any idea of budget?

MrsClaustrophobic · 18/03/2015 21:28

That Gwen dress is gorgeous. Love the colour but it would cling to my hips I think. For the right dress and rest of the outfit I am more than happy to go a bit over.

Think I will do a couple of orders. It's hard to tell how dresses sit with bump I find.

Really appreciate all the suggestions Flowers

That bright cobalt one by Isabelle Oliver is gorgeous!

runningforfreedom · 18/03/2015 21:33

Grouchy I love the cobalt one too! I'm not tempted to buy it myself dammit!

runningforfreedom · 18/03/2015 21:34

I am tempted rather!

MrsLettuce · 18/03/2015 21:36

(a half slip, thus will solve any clinging issues with dresses, I sized up and wore with the waistband above the bump)

SASASI · 18/03/2015 22:34

I wore this to a wedding when 8 months pregnant - I know it's more expensive than you would like to spend but I felt good in it which was no mean feat!

Maybe try ebay?

runningforfreedom · 19/03/2015 00:01

That's gorgeous sasasi
