I'm going to do it, you can't talk me out of it.
I long for curly corkscrewy curls every day and I neeeeed them.
My hair is very fine and nearly shoulder length.

Do you have any recommendations?

I used to perm my hair and it turned out okish . Then I went blond and decided to perm it. OMG did I laugh and cry and laugh and then cry some more and then phoned the nearest hair salon. My hair just started breaking off in my hands. I was shocked as it hadn't happened when it was darker. Still, went to hair salon and they gave me a brilliant short bob. So it all worked out ok in the end.
Glad you have decided not to do it OP

Just as an aside, I am a client of Eleven hairdressers. I haven't had a
perm but they are real specialists in it. Highly recommend them but start saving...
