Please help - Something to wear for a party - havent lost my baby weight yet!

I havent posted here before but am hoping someone might have some ideas for me. I am going to a 50th party in a couple of weeks - it's going to be a big event and I'm keen to look good as party invites seem few and far between these days! There's no dress code and I imagine people will be wearing everything from jeans and a nice top, to something more formal.

I have been living in jeans since I had a baby 7 months ago and have about a stone to lose so cant fit any of my nicer clothes.

Does anyone have an idea of something to buy that would fit the bill? I dont want to spend too much as hopefully I will lose a bit of weight - maybe up to £50? I'm 5'6" and at the moment about 14/16.

Thanks for any ideas!

How about a black jumpsuit? Nice and forgiving, and within budget. Hopeless at linking, but would recommend oasis, John Lewis John Lewis

I would go for a nice frock. It can make you feel feminine and sexy and confident.
Try ASOS. They have lots of reasonably priced stuff. I just had a look and the section on wrap dresses is pretty good (if you can ignore the fact that most of the models are very young, skinny girls):

I don't know what your body type is but wrap type dresses are always a winner as you can show a bit of boob for oomph but skim tummy if that's a problem area. There are some dresses on there with long sleeves if arms are an issue. Put on some heels, do nice make up and hair and you're good to go. Have a fab time.
