I like Longchamp bags. What other brands are in similar price range?

I like the Pliage but I am keen to buy a leather bag that will last longer, and would spend up to £300.

Any tips appreciated.

(Further info: blue or grey or silver/pewter leather, shoulder bag, medium-size, zip top for security).

Yes that Longchamp bag has been everywhere, for years - you're right to look for something else.

Up to £300 could push into Marc by Marc Jacobs territory if you want a label) or for a better bag for the same money look at top-end high street eg Whistles (amazing leather goods) or Toast.

Whistles bags do indeed look nice - I'd never looked there before. Hard to tell what the zips are like - I have a pet hate of expensive handbags that use cheap rough zips you can skin a knuckle on! I will have a look in person when I get a chance.

Have you looked at Fossil? I have two and they've both lasted for years.

Maybe I'm unlucky but I got a whistles bag about 4 years ago and the stitching came away from handles after 1 year. Couldn't be bothered taking it back. Ebayed it I think.
