Clinique foundation in the glass pot - how the jeff do you get it out??

Bought some new foundation - it's one of those Clinique ones in a square glass pot. It is lovely and seems to be a good match for me, but... How are you supposed to get it out?? I'm tipping it upside down onto a makeup sponge, worried the whole lot is going to shoot out. Then it gets a bubble in the neck that can only be burst by jabbing with a cotton bud. This all seems very wasteful for reasonably expensive stuff. Am I missing something?

I remember that stupid pot. Do they still make it? I used to leave it upside down. I stopped buying it coz i felt u were paying for 50mls but could only get 30 of them out of the bottle

I used to use Clinique as a teenager Shock. I used to spill it. A lot. The state of my carpet near where I used to put on my make up was horrendous!

Why the hell my mum used to let me buy it I'll never know! I can't afford to use it now! Grin

InQuiteAPickle · 03/03/2015 16:59

I just used to tip it into my hand, btw. If I poured too much out then I would just scrape it back into the pot xxx

Nooooo! I didn't mean to type kisses! I've just been texting DH! Blush

Do I need to hand in my registration?

CointreauVersial · 03/03/2015 17:03

Ooh, that would give me the rage. Especially as I'm guessing it wasn't cheap.

Greengardenpixie · 03/03/2015 17:08

Return it!!! Its not fit for purpose!! Seriously, i would chance my arm. Get the colour in a different type of foundation. One that you can get out!! Or you could just tip the whole lot out into a clean pot from some used moisturiser and just apply it from that.

Kerberos · 03/03/2015 17:10

I use a clean cotton bud and dip it in. You don't need a lot of it.

YoungJoseph · 03/03/2015 17:11

About to say cotton bud.

StayGoldPonyBoy · 03/03/2015 17:12

I decanted it the last time I used this. I do the same with Revlon Colour Stay, hate foundation bottles with no pump!

MayIcarryYourSchoolBooks · 03/03/2015 17:14

Estee Lauder Double Wear is my favourite foundation and I have stopped buying it for this very reason. It gives me the rage.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 03/03/2015 17:40

Oh no, I was hoping someone was going to say "you just need to do X and Y" Sad

At least it was bought with Boots points not real ££s

NARS sheer glow doesn't come with a pump either; I'd sort of hold it with my middle finger over the lid, tip it and then dab into my face, repeating for each cheek, forehead and chin then blend with a brush. Then i caught myself on and paid the £3 for the separate pump Grin

Gillybobs · 03/03/2015 19:38

I use my foundation brush to block the neck of the bottle as I tip it..so the foundation just goes on to the top of the bristles...then I apply it.

MayIcarryYourSchoolBooks · 03/03/2015 19:54

I did us a MAC pump with the EEDW bottle as it fits (it's only £3) but somehow it didn't work all that well and a lot of product ended up not being able to be retrieved. Worth trying though?

TheSpottedZebra · 03/03/2015 20:14

Put thumb over the opening and shake hard. Then you get a blob on your thumb.
I agree though that it's a stupid design.

DeweyDecibelle · 03/03/2015 23:25

I just put my finger over the opening, completely blocking it, tip upside down and apply with fingers. Wash hands first if you're concerned about germs but personally I don't bother. I think it's a great foundation and it lasts ages as you only need a wee bit.
