how can i update this dress?

It's our bananniversary soon and DH and I always go out for a swish dinner. I have a coast dress from a couple of years ago that i'll probably wear. It's a touch too big now (losing my BF norks) but still fits.
I'd like to update it a bit. maybe a sparkly shrug or something. but don't want to spend very much. any ideas?

Really do like the jacket though... It is very thick? ie too hot to wear inside?

I know this sounds naff, but take a look at this picture, could you put a colored sash around the dress?

actually the dress has a belt so i could wear a sash instead.
now, what about shoes? the ones i have are very open and i'm not sure about them.

If you decide to buy the jacket, you could get teal coloured shoes to tie it all in?

I suspect closed toe possibly better - but if you're not going to have to walk too far, you could get away with open toe, I think (although then you have the whole tights/no tights thing).

ooh look - completely not what you're after (I don't think), but spotted halloween shoes . How high a heel can you do? (find it difficult to judge, as am completely useless with heels myself)

I would try to get a sash and get some matching closed toe shoes in that colour.

no, it was just on the hanger. didn't try it on or anything. and it does look fab on the model in the link.
