Girls winter coats without fur do they exist and if so where?

I am desperate for a nice winter coat for dd 7, she is very tall so needs an 8-9. I usually get a duffle from Boden but she said she got too hot in it last year running around the playground. I don't seem to be able to find anything nice. I don't do furry bits or puffa style, something a bit more traditional. Please help.

Not sure if it's traditional enough, but have bought DD this one this year, as she'd grown out of last year's. You can often get discount codes for Vertbaudet too. They have other options too.

Did you not like those then? What sort of style are you after? Like a wool-type coat?

Hi Jackie sorry for not replying earlier your link goes to the home page but actually I have just had the purple coat from there but ordered it a 9 which was a bit tight, do like it but am worried the 10 will swamp her. Are their sizes really small as she's still in age 7 in lots of things but I want the coat to fit over her uniform.

Ooh - that's really weird - I posted that link at work, and checked it and it worked fine. Sorry! It was this one (hope it works!). Have bought the age 7 for DD, and it fits fine (she's not actually wearing it yet, as it's not really cold enough). Not overly generous, imo.

She's not 7 till January, btw, and isn't particularly tall or anything.

poptot · 24/10/2006 22:11

sorry still on home page which one is it?

Weird - it works for me. If you go to girlswear, jackets, it's number 3 the purple reversible parka with gloves and scarf.

Thanks I might try that one then I ordered the double breasted one in purple but it is on the small side. Thanks for your help.

good luck. There are a fair few others too that look good. Woolies do some OK coats for girls, but why does everything have fake fur atm[grrr]?

poptot · 24/10/2006 22:18

I know I cannot abide the fur, bought a lovely one for ds the other day from John Rocha which did have fur on but it was removable thank goodness, dh was a bit dismayed we had to pay more for removable fur!!

(happened to notice girls' plain traditional wool coats with peter pan collars in Gap today and thought it was worth a post. Not on the website though.)
