....anyone seen any good possibilities online or instore?

Can't be a wooly stocking cap type as I've got short hair which would never recover from the static!

Hmmm - was just recommending Celtic Sheepskin on another thread - any of those do (Ok, some are a bit strange!)?

MrsBadger · 24/10/2006 10:31

trilby - felt or cord - can't be beaten (brim size should be proportional to fatness of face - I need a wide one)
try Debenhams or Accessorize.

Earlybird · 24/10/2006 15:09

Hmmm - don't think the sheepskin ones do it for me. Will look out for trilby style.

Anyone else?

What about baker boy hat? Very in thsi season.

MrsBadger · 24/10/2006 15:48

(do you know, I ended my original post
'and DON'T buy a baker boy hat unless you're an elfin 18yo as they are ghastlily unflattering'
but deleted it because it seemed peremptory and unneccessary. More fool me, eh?)

northerner · 25/10/2006 10:31

I'm not an 18 yo elf and I look fabulaous dahling in my baker boy hat.

So there.

Pinotmum · 25/10/2006 10:43

Second the Baker Boy suggestion - have had mine for 2 yrs and love it and have had many compliments (may have been taking the p though) I'm a little older than 18 btw

MrsBadger · 25/10/2006 10:45

[backtracks hastily]

I'm sure you both look gorgeous in them, am obviously just jealous because they look rubbish on me...

(trilby, trilby, trilby)

Hmm - do you think I could carry off a trilby? I would love one. What sort of coat would I be needing to wear it with?

cupsnakes · 25/10/2006 10:57

I had a purple cord trilby (a soft one iykwim) from Gap last year and it was lovely. Looked better with fitted jackets than coats though so only really wore it in Autumn.
end up in wooly beanies in winter...

MrsBadger · 25/10/2006 11:01

I wear mine with fitted jackets at the mo, and later with a funky (rather than classic) wool coat from H&M - agree they can look peculiar if worn with elegant/sophisticated coats.

As MrsBadger says, Accessorize. I was shopping there yesterday and they have a lovely range of hats.

TheDaVinciCod · 25/10/2006 11:16

you just need t og ot and try i am afraid
take bluntmate wiht you

cupsnakes · 25/10/2006 11:21

9/10 of the hats I try on either
a) are too small
or
b) make me laugh

anything else generally does the job. I'll probably end up with something like this Monsoon one

Pinotmum · 25/10/2006 11:42

I used to have a lovely hat similar to a trilby and when I wore it to work one day some workmen started singing "where did you get that hat, where did you get that hat, isn't it a lovely one ..." you get the picture Put me off!
