What to wear to a posh dinner? Feeling over weight and stuck

Going out with friends tonight, I have nothing to wear and feeling very down as partner is a knob. Currently a size 14 and 5'2. Don't like my arms showing but don't mind showing my legs with tights.
Any ideas please?

What do you mean by a posh dinner - what sort of venue?

Wear a dress if you like tights. I'm the same height and I don't actually own any trousers I live in dress/tights tunics/leggings. What dresses have you got?

I don't have anything smart enough.

Sort of la carte type thing.

I have a friend who's a bit overweight with good legs. She always looks amazing. For this situation she would wear a dress or skirt, short and tight on the bottom and big and blousy on top.

Can you accessorise up a dress to make it more glam? Can you shop today? Or perhaps get your hair done x wish I could make suggestions about knobbish partner x have makeup done at bare minerals if you have a Debenhams near you x

Still not sure what sort of venue - a restaurant or hotel ? London or not? Traditional or trendy? Only ask because all that affects what's appropriate to wear. Eg if trendy London restaurant good jeans or simple trousers and stylish top ideal.

Whichever way you go a blow dry is a great idea if you can fit it in.

If not a trendy London restaurant agree a dress best bet - understated so not lots of flesh bared and with your favourite jewellery.

A simple tunic dress with black opaque tights, heels and a nice necklace will take you anywhere

Or a wrap dress. This one is from wallis petite. I think it could easily be dressed up for going out to dinner. It's hard to say without knowing more about where you're going and what age you are.
