First time looking at Boden and I cannot look properly at their clothes when their models are pictured making weird open mouthed faces, they look awful. It's so distracting!

What age range would you sat Boden is aimed at? I always thought 30's up. I can only think of one friend amongst those people I know who are that slender. The rest of us are pears, apples, a bit saggy, menopausal, tall, small ... The whole shape gamut. Yet we are presented with this spectacularly pert & slender image and then need to try to imagine what the garment might look like on, in "the real world".

Do you remember the season they used Helena Christensen?

GingerbreadBaubles · 06/02/2015 14:17

Queen, I have just spat my tea out laughing..WTF is she doing?! I think I've found a free source of amusement here!

I agree with stats about Ewa Michalak. It is great to be able to see the same bra on different sized women. I look at the one closest to me in shape and then I know it will fit. The Swedish company Gugrun Sjoden are good for having models with a wide age and size range, without a ton of botox or frumpy hair either. I wish more Brit companies would do it.

kirbymaster · 06/02/2015 14:48

That outfit looks like something someone would wear in their 50s/60s. I can't see the appeal as a younger person.

UncrushedParsley · 06/02/2015 21:48

Queen. Lol, what is that woman ON?!

UncrushedParsley · 06/02/2015 22:25

Here ya go Ginger. "It's all about the base, bowt the base, bowt the base. . ."

BlueEyedWonder · 06/02/2015 22:33

I'm a size 6/8 but only 5ft so although I'm slim I don't look like the models in the clothes.
I think Boden are missing a trick. I follow them on instagram where they often post or regram pictures of "normal" women of all shapes and sizes in their clothes. These pictures appeal to me much more.

Greengardenpixie · 06/02/2015 22:36

Well i noticed the change in the video clips of their clothes a while back and posted on here. Ive just checked them. They have changed those too...back to just a twirl. Before it was like a hop skip and a jump. It looked ridiculous!

How has nobody mentioned Drunk J. Crew yet?!

the Hush site used to have ACE videos of women walking along a beach as if htey might in any second have a knife and be looking through your patio door ready to kill you

Jigsaw still has some and Great Plains

queenbrunhilda · 07/02/2015 14:15

Have had a quick look at Boden's men's clothing videos: no one here seems required to giggle, simper or prance? Quelle surprise.

Would rather be scowled at any day. Three cheers for any retailer who remembers clothes can be interesting aesthetically because of their texture, shape, colour, references etc. Too often we are offered a mind numbingly boring binary of 'sexy' or 'cute'.

Eastwickwitch · 07/02/2015 15:32

What really irritates me is that Boden long just isn't. I've got 35" inside leg and even their L is too short.
I can't believe their 6 foot size 8 models have shorter legs than me but the ways they are photographed suggests the trousers will fit.
They're missing a trick.

Girlsbrigadewashorrible · 07/02/2015 17:36

Eastwick have you tried Gap online for long trousers? Way too long for me and I am 33" inside leg.

Armpitt · 07/02/2015 17:44

Me to i wear 33 with heels, although I find they don't always have a long option on the UK site, just the USA one

Eastwickwitch · 07/02/2015 19:22

girls i have tried Gap but if find their sizing inconsistent, Esprit sometimes come up trumps.
I can't understand why Boden don't do some longer lengths, they do petite.

UncrushedParsley · 10/02/2015 06:12

Ginger. Come and play the caption game!

Flingmoo · 10/02/2015 06:57

I know they're sickeningly twee but I actually think the Biden models are okay - I prefer the happy frolicking to the miserable gaunt funeral look, from the ME&EM and Toast catalogues I get you'd think heron chic is back in.

I did notice that Boden is the only one out of about 6 or so catalogues I get which show models as mothers even in the non-kids sections, e.g. modelling a pretty dress and she has a toddler/baby on her hip.

Having said all that I do agree about the age thing, although I am 25, a mum, and wear Boden Blush so in some ways the models do represent my demographic.

Flingmoo · 10/02/2015 06:58

*Boden, not bloody Biden (sideways typing on phone in bed!!)
