What to wear to after-work drinks party when you WFH

usually in your pants/shabby jeans and jumper?

It's a professional event, I'll be going on my own and it's apparently going to be a party of note. One person I know, many I'll want to impress, but I won't be the centre of attention at all, just another guest.

I haven't worked in an office for 3 years but suspect many of the guests will be coming from work. Others, like me, will be WFH and going "OMFG a PARTY" and dressing accordingly. But in WHAT?

I have no time to shop and no bog-standard workwear. I have jeans, a few decent tops, a couple of fab leather skirts in pewter and rose gold that I wear for nights out, a couple of neutral pencil skirts that I fear may be a bit dated, and a tube skirt in a bold print that's fab and suits me, but I worry may be a bit mutton/try-hard.

I'm 42, 5'7, size 8-10, total straight up and down figure with biggish boobs and good legs. What the bloody hell am I going to wear?

Erm....are you asking us to pick something out of your current clothes collection, or do you have time to shop online?

Leather skirt sounds perfect! Nice plain but elegant jersey or wool top, boots or opaque tights and heels. Chic, professional, but 'evening' look.

Thanks both.

I guess what I was asking what what you'd suggest in theory, so I could pick from current wardrobe and/or do a quick ASOS shop!

Glad you think the leather skirt will be okay! Might invest in a new top...

Leather skirt with boots, lightweight knitted top or similar, awesome necklace?

Amethyst24 · 03/02/2015 12:23

I have awesome necklaces Smile

Could do boxy black sweatshirt-type top, rose gold suede skirt (it's quite short, hence the casual top to de-try-hard the whole thing a bit), opaque tights, ankle boots, awesome necklace? No shopping that way.

Or black cold-shoulder jumper, pewter leather skirt, rest as above?

Thanks for the help, am overthinking this massively.

All sounds good. I would probably go for whichever is the longer skirt if you don't know that many people there.
