I have been looking for a coat that I can wear most days without much luck. .
I have seen some lovely formal coats I like but the casual ones seem so unflattering/ a bit anorak like iykwim.
I am shortish 5ft 4 , slimmish , size 10/12 and quite pale so black looks rubbish on me.I am a sahm but will be doing some volantary work soon I quite like the idea of a fitted 3/4 lenghth . Please help

Have you tried Wallis recently, I recently bought a 3/4 lenght one with three buttons, quite sixties-ish and only £80

Sorry too many recentlys

I've got a long, dark green, thick woolly knee-length cardigan instead of a coat - it looks casual, but it's quite fitted and not at all anorak-y, maybe that kind of thing would suit you? And they're cheaper than coats. Mine's from Boden (I hate Boden normally but it's really nice) and so not v. cheap but there are loads of long cardies in the shops at the moment.

H&M often have wool coats that are 'now' rather than 'classic' so look a bit more casual - I got a fantastic 3/4 length one last year with buckles at the cuffs and collar for about £50.
Thinking on the same lines, Topshop have some good casualish wool coats, including a slim-cut duffle coat in pale blue (very good for pale skin) and red, and a dark teal belted funnelneck.
Dorothy Perkins also have some fitted wool coats in fabulous colours...

I got a lovely winter coat 3/4 length from Matalan for forty quid.

MrsBadger - I tried that one on in topshop - the colour and style were great - it just didn't look good on me , but is exactly the sort of thing I am looking for.
Also tried on a lovely red fitted one in DP but it looked a bit smart for everday iyknwim. I will look in H and M - thanks for the tip.
Bluejelly and overtired mum - will look on line when I get them in bed ds is hassling me .
Snowleopard you are a brave woman
