Hello, can anyone offer a recommendation for a hairdresser in Surrey please? I have short hair with full head of highlights (blonde/couple of colours) and would appreciate any recommendations. I'm Godalming/Guildford way but happy to travel. TIA

I like this place
wardandcross.co.uk

They're in Ashtead, might be a bit far?

I always recommend Headmasters in Dorking, Carly there is fabulous she's one of the owners and does great hair, but will tell you what is and isn't possible-quite refreshing! You can get a half price appointment if you message me as I have some client half price vouchers still, have a look at their website and see what you think, Liz.

Having tried many many hairdressers both in Surrey and London - I have found a fabulous one in chiswick - www.rubyb.co.uk right by Turnham Green tube station). I can't recommend them enough .... Best cut I have ever had and my hair is very fine ... Always get comments about it now and my friends have said the same as have recommended all of them too ! What is even better is the colour that they use which is natulique and is a plant based color so has none of the rubbish in it such as ammonia and Parabens etc). Didn't realise that all the toxins go into your blood stream when you color your hair ! My hair often used to itch when I had color put on (didn't realise that this is a reaction and not normal and due to toxins!!) they also do amazing products !! I always have Tony to do the cut (normally on Sunday) .... fab boutiques and cafés in the area ! So perfect for a complete pampering and blissful day !!

I can't suggest a specific cutter I'm afraid as I have a mass of curls so very different proposition (I'd just say pay for one of the top stylists), but for colour I would heartily recommend Sarah-Jane at The Retreat in Farnham www.theretreathairandbeauty.co.uk/. It's an Aveda salon so one of the least harmful dyes around (though we all know it's not a good idea really!!!). Her clients always look fantastically natural, but still great IYSWIM. She really listens to what you're after, but isn't afraid to explain why it might not be a good idea if necessary. I trust her implicitly and she tells me when she thinks I need to go a touch lighter (I'm 50 now) keeping an eye on the colour of my hair v my complexion as I age. She makes infinitesimal changes that allow it to be a totally natural gradual process - most people are stunned to find out that my hair is coloured and also to find out my age, which I think is partially down to her skill in tweaking the colour so I can stay dark but not too dark. With highlights she makes the finest ones - no stripey looks. HTH.

I would recommend Koko in Guildford, opposite the back of Heal's. They are an independent salon. I have had my hair colored in lots of different hairdressers and this is definitely the best. Lovely, friendly salon too. I was recommended by my work colleague and have never looked back.

Thanks everyone. I found a fantastic one- Emma in Philip Hussey, Guildford (apparently used to be called Clippers). She is excellent. First time since we moved here - seven years ago - I've been 100% happy with my hair.
Thanks for all your suggestions also.
