Skincare after hysterectomy

Hi all.

Hoping you can help and that I have posted in the right place!

I had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and my skin has gone to pot! My face is so dry and itchy. Anyone recommend a skincare range for this? The pharmacist gave me some la Roche-posay but it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference.
I know it is hormone related but it's driving me mad!
Any tips gratefully received!

Did they remove your ovaries too?

Northlondonma · 27/01/2015 10:28

Hi! Yes they removed everything.

Did they not put you on HRT?

Yes started taking Estelle solo two days after the operation. Have had no hot flushes etc and have stopped weeping over any little thing (for now!) but my skin is so bad.

It sounds like you could use something calming, soothing, etc. The REN Rose Centafolia range could be good?

I had dry, itchy skin for over a year, which I think was caused by a hormone imbalance. The only thing that really helped was Avene Skin Recovery Cream - I still use it whenever my skin is feeling particularly sensitive or sore.

Thanks! I will look into both of these. It's driving me crazy and looks bloody awful! Maybe it will settle with the hrt. I hope so!

You need to give HRT longer than 3 weeks to help but you also need to keep an eye on the dose- maybe it should be higher? look after yourself but also look at your diet- get some 'good fats' inside you from avocado, walnuts, almonds, brazils, salmon and sardines, olive and rapeseed oils, olives etc.

Good advice. Thanks pinkfrock.

I found Bio-oil helpful.
