I want to change my perfume

I have been using Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise for year and I enjoy doing so,

However, two friends of mine have also started to use it and, while I love them dearly, I don't want to smell the same and anyway, it may be time for a change.

Is there anything like Beyond Paradise, (light, sweet, floral) that might be a bit more unusual? I'm prepared to pay up and around £70.

Where are you based chop? If you are anywhere near a big city I would say try and visit an independent perfumiers. You will get much more unusual scents and they tend to stay on longer too. My fave is Angela Flanders in East London

I can get to most of the large Yorkshire towns. I sniffed Creed White in Love (?) in Fenwicks yesterday, dabbed it on and it made me feel horrible all day! The bottle was white and I was seduced by the name.

Try the bvlgari omni collection. I really like them as they just smell a little bit different.

I got Hugo Boss Ma Vie at Christmas and it's quite light and sparkly (if that makes sense) but quite flowery and sweet. it might be worth a sniff

Burgins in York might do the job nicely then. A good perfumer will probably ask you what sorts of smells you like and then line up a few options for you to try. The trick is not to buy then but go and let them settle in. The one that doesnt sit in top of your skin smell IYKWIM but blends with it and almost seems as if your skin is breathing it out is usually the one you will wear over and over again IME. I think I am the perfume polar opposite of you - I like spice, smoke and leather! Her Oud Noire is my favourite - it is just mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I am a complete convert to Jo Malone, so much so that I struggle to wear a regular perfume now. I love how you can layer the scents and how combining them completely transforms the smell. The only downside is how big my collection could end up being.

While we're on the subject.....I know that some people have several different perfumes on the go but I just don't understand how this works. I tend to wear one perfume for several years before I tire of it then have to find another. All of my clothes and scarves smell faintly of my current perfume, surely if I were to use a different one on different days they would clash?

Burgins is great! And you could have tea and a fat rascal in Betty's while you wait to see how the contenders develop.

Another vote for Ma Vie here. It's a rose perfume, really light and floral. I wear it everyday and have yet to get sick of it!

La petit robe noire by Guerlain. Light,sweet/fruity (black cherries) and floral with a twist of licorice. Really unusual.

I have several on the go at once, but I don't spray on my neck so they don't get onto my coats and scarves, all other clothes they wash out of.

Yes, I do think that I would need to wait in Betty's while the smell develops. It would be foolish, reckless, to do anything else! :)

i wear lots of different perfumes and the smell wears off usually after a while so no clashing smells in my wardrobe

My newest perfume is Boss Ma Vie - agree with the light, floral and sparkly description above!

Also love most of the bulgari omnia perfumes they are light scents with an edge to them

I also love Beyond Paradise and like light sweet floral perfumes.

recently husband bought me L'eau D'Issey and I love it - nicest perfume I have had in years.

Angel by Thierrry Mugler is also nice.

I used Beautiful by Estee Lauder for a long while too.

I tried this one recently and it's really very beautiful, Alien Eau Extraordinaire by Thierry Mugler. I used to love beyond paradise too and have a small bottle still.

Chop if you are going to Burgins try doing the Nose diagnostic. It will give you a short list of niche fragrances to try (plus info on the fragrance notes you like).

La Tulipe by Byredo is my current fave. Absolutely divine.

Modern Muse by EsteLauder is wonderful. Has a very light smell that lasts all day. I love it.

Do you really wash you scarves after every wear? Is that a thing? I do wash them but not on a regular basis.

I often find the smell of perfume lingers on my coats and jackets. I wouldn't wash them at all really. Dry cleaners once in a blue moon!

I think some of you must be wearing a lot more perfume than me, I just do one brief squirt into my cleavage, so no problems with coats and scarves, I would hate it if I could smell stale perfume on them.
