Short haircuts for finy wavy hair?

Hi,
Is there such thing as a good haircut for fine wavy hair?
At the moment thanks to two cheap living social haircuts I have hair that makes ny head look like an acorn. It is flat at the top and then flares out. I am tired of it.
I have an oval face but quite strong facial features (big nose). I am tall so could not be pixie ish.
I've gone for
www.instyle.co.uk/hairstyles/hair-trends/short-hairstyles/gwyneth-paltrow
In the past but it means I have to blow dry every day without fail, otherwise it looks wrong.
Also had this
www.marieclaire.co.uk/blogs/546924/the-honourable-woman-6-awesome-things-about-maggie-gyllenhaal-s-character-nessa-stein.html well similar recently but while I liked it, I think the short length was maybe too short.

Ideally I need something that lets my waves come out. I was trying the curly girl method until my son brought home a farm of head friends so had to use large quantities of sillicone to drown the suckers.
Any help appreciated!

I have very fine, wavy hair and actually find that the shorter it is the better it works. I tend to go for a very short crop much like this and I find the extra volume/length on the crown and the choppiness of the style keeps it quite feminine and actually a lot more flattering than when it's slightly longer like Maggie Gyllenhall's in your link. It's also super easy - I don't own a hairdryer or a hairbrush - I just towel dry it and once it's nearly completely dry I put some clay through it to keep the texture and tame the flyaways.

I'm not remotely pixie-ish either (aside from my pointy fucking ears), whilst I'm not tall my features aren't what you'd describe as delicate but the haircut really suits my androgynous features. I really think that going shorter might work, as the Maggie G cut is a bit in-between.

Either that or go for something like Ginnifer Goodwin where you can use product to add volume and bring out the waves. It looks like harder work than a short crop though!

Thanks so much for your reply!
Love the first link, I think I am too much of a chicken to go that short. Lovely though!

Do you think Audrey Tautou crop is possible? www.instyle.co.uk/hairstyles/hair-trends/short-hairstyles/audrey-tautou-1
I know someone on here ended up with lego head but as my hair is fine and not thick I might be ok?
Acorn head must be worse than lego head?

I don't think I could get away with the Audrey Tatou crop as my hair just bends where it wants to rather than being coaxed into a style. If you have more obedient hair I can't see why it wouldn't work. You'd need to get a very good hairdresser though!

Wavy hair looks lovely in a pixie cut. I gave a pixie but straight hair and Im always jealous of someone who has a bit of curl .
I dont go with you have to have a gamine face for pixie cuts. I have a big strong nose and look ace

The AT crop would quickly look shampoo and set if not perfectly styled
I speak from experience. I have wavy/curly hair which can easily look shampoo and set
I need long or short. Anything in the middle is dodgy unless I am prepared to do a lot if styling, which I'm not
