help me find a nice but cheap party outfit (size 16)

Its a combination party - my DDs 7th and my mum's birthday too lol.

lots of family are coming that we tend to only see once or twice a year, and someone is coming who is always glam etc so my mum is stressing over my 'permanently scruffy' appearance.

I want to look really nice but not my size if that makes sense. Dresses can be a bit of a nightmare because of my size and the fact that although I'm average height, I have short legs and dresses can emphasise this.

I'm on a next to nothing budget due to overdoing it over xmas so I'm really struggling to find anything nice AND affordable!

Any outfit suggestions would be really appreciated.

Have you looked at ASOS Curve? I'm a 16 and buy a lot of dresses from there. I'm not sure what their trousers and things are like - I'm the opposite of you and prefer dresses (trousers always fall down). They're reasonably priced.

What websites have you been looking at. Dorothy Perkins sizes are great (I'm a size 16 too!)

Also new look, boohoo, asda (George) Tesco (Florence & Fred)
All easy on the bank and they wash up nice.

Personally I would wear a black midi dress, tights (or nicely tanned shins) good pair of shoes, and invest in a blow dry and make time to do your make up & a statement necklace. Accessorise have got a sale so can get a clutch bag for cheap too.

I do most of my shopping at DPs or Asda.

Haven't looked at ASOS curve though - I thought it was size 20 plus? But I'll have a look.

Midi dresses are okay but I can never seem to find one that isn't a bodycon one :(

What about a jumpsuit x

I would consider a jumpsuit, I've only ever worn one before and I got good comments, however it tended to bunch around the tummy, I think because of my short legs so I'm wary of them as I worry they will make me look shorter.
