Has anyone ever painted the soles of their shoes red?

I like the look of red soles on black stiletto high heels but there's no way I'm buying Louboutins. Apparently, Louboutin will sue anyone who tries to make red-soled shoes! Although I think Zara prevailed in court, nobody else dares invoke the wrath and ensuing legal fees. But, seriously, how can you patent/trademark/whatever a shoe colour?! This makes me want to do it even more.

I googled this and found something in the Daily Fail I think it was saying that there was a rush on a certain red house paint by women doing this but I am not sure if I believe it.

If I have basic black stilettos what should I take into consideration to do it? What sorts of paints will work on what sorts of surfaces? Ideally I think the sole should be leather. I can say that the shoes will only ever be worn indoors on carpet so they don't have to stand up to pavement. If I knew who sold Louboutins in Manchester I would go have a look at them to see what I was aiming for - I've only ever seen them in photographs. But, it's not like I actually need to fool the public that these are the real thing. I just want that look.

So, anyone tried it?

Oo-er!
Look, anyone who can only get off in you wearing a specific shoe brandWink has far too many issues to unlock here. I doubt he's worth it

MakeMe - I ordered red rubber soles on eBay and had my cobbler put them on - same effect, more durable!

I have some really nice shoes from ebay, they came from china and have red soles. It wasn't something I was looking for but the soles on them have lasted longer than my real louboutins.

Seems a lot of effort for a shag. (Excuse my bluntness.) He won't be looking at your shoes presumably.

Unless he's 'into' shoes as a fetish. In which case make sure you get none toxic paint.

Coumarin · 22/01/2015 18:34

Non-toxic

Ahhhhh...it's one of those threads. IN that case, get him to buy you the real deal Grin

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 22/01/2015 20:45

Lol yes if it's to turn him on. Let him earn the shag and buy you real louboutins!!

I'm not doing this at the request of a man! I just like to wear sexy get-ups to spice things up, and I sometimes like to wear sexy shoes, even though I can't walk outside in them.

I may buy the stick-on red and have a cobbler do it. I think that will be far less faff.
