Best GINGER (ie not purply red) home dye

My dark blonde/mainly grey hair is currently dyed mid brown but I want to go back to the lovely ginger I used to dye it ages ago. The dye (by L'oreal I think) has been discontinued so I need recommendations for one that's a true ginger - had some nasty experiences with 'red' dyes in the past that have been bluey purply disasters. Also will it take on my dyed medium brown?

I've actually bought Nice n' Easy Warm Auburn 109 but am a little worried it'll be bluey, anyone used it?

Thanks!

Superdrug own brand hair dye do a good copper/auburn. It covers grey well too.

Olia Intense Copper

I used it on top of my medium-to-dark brown hair in the summer and got lovely coppery highlights.

If your hair is a lighter brown you'll get a more striking result.

It's definitely orange, not purple.

If your hair is currently dyed, could you strip it back first? Something like this?

The second recommendation I HAVE NOT tried myself.

I have one of those in the cupboard Trills but I've been putting off using it. Think I might give it a go this weekend.

That copper looks beautiful Trills, just the sort of thing I'm after! Your second link's not working on my phone, is it for Colour B4 or similar? I was thinking of stripping it first to get a more vivid ginger but was worried it might be a bit harsh. Also our shower isn't working so rinsing for 20 minutes would be a megafaff. Was thinking of trying a vitamin C strip, not sure how successful it'd be though.

Most won't turn brown hair gingery tbh,I've tried tonnes over the years.

Best I've found that doesn't require bleaching first is Gardiner something intense copper red which turns my mid-dark brown hair into this in 20 minutes and doesn't fade as quickly as most

If your try olia test first,I nearly tried it until I read loads of reviews!

Prodigy by L'Oreal in Vermillion (7.40) is good.

Gave my dark brown hair a decent ginger colour
