Unbelievably I've won some Donna Ida jeans. I'd like some black ones to replace some beloved ones that ripped at the knee eventually. I'm a size ten that's a bit soft in the middle in winter and 5'6", around 9 stone but slim muscular legs and bum. What style should I choose? I mostly have skinnies but enjoy my very slouchy blue boyfriends and virtually never wear my old bootcuts/flares but I'm aware flares are around more and I am getting more adventurous style-wise now.

I'm mostly school run but do go out or round to friends for dinner fairly often. Help me choose! Thank you!

Skinnies are here to stay I think. Yes, all the magazines are pedalling flares this season but I can't see the skinny going anywhere fast.

I would go for high waisted skinnies, personally.

I bought some recently and that's usually a good sign that something is on the way out

Lols polarbear and thanks, that's what I was thinking, who can afford to have different styles each year? Do high waisted work if you have a very mildly squidgy tum? R they uncomfortable?

Grin stealth

Def not going out, OP, they are a wardrobe staple, and anyway I hate bootcuts, flares, boyfriends (the denim variety!); skinnies are the only jeans that suit me so I'll be hanging onto mine even if they are deemed naff one day.

High waisted good for squidgy tum imo cos they hold it in corset-stylee

I was going to suggest straight leg jeans. They are basically the perfect compromise between skinny and boot cut, and very classic.

I think the problem with high waisted stuff is that the trend never lasts long. It comes in and out of fashion every 4-5 years or so, but in the times when it isn't fashionable, it's REALLY unfashionable.

They were around for a bit in 2001, then I remember looking for a decent pair in 2006ish before realising I looked ridiculous, and now apparently they are back again.

Flares have always been, and will forever remain, a 1970's thing. It's not possible to see someone in flares and not think of 1970's popstars!

Congratulations. It's ace when you win a prize :)

I like skinnies, but my v muscular legs don't. So often choose straight legs - as they look like skinnies on me.

I think if you are choosing such a pricy pair, then may as well go for some which can be worn both daytime casual and night time dressed up.

Hurrah for winning a prize! If you'd like black skinnies, pretty sure Donna Ida have J Brand 811s in black, they are The. Best. skinny jeans. Not ridiculously tight, mid rise, keep their shape, go with everything.
