Sweaty Betty without the price tag?

Typical January question but. Any ideas where I can get cool workout gear at a not too ridiculous cost?

Love sweaty Betty but just can't afford to pay £45 for a vest! Shock

I normally get on really well with Adidas, but I went out on a run the other day and was being demented by my new running tights. I was getting all huffy and mentally composing an email to Adidas about their declining quality etc and how they used to cut clothes so well. Then I realised I had my running tights on backwards Blush.

Love BAM - fab feel, washes well and really like the company's values.

I have a viscose SB top that got holey the second time I wore it. A SB technical top is one of my favorites, flattering ruching in strategic places and great color, but have pair of their cropped yoga leggings are that hot and itchy and an awkward length. Have one of the SB raceback vests too but the ones bought from Decathlon are far better quality for a third of the SB sale price! So overall, no longer tempted by their offerings.

I find adidas stuff falls down constantly. I recently bought some reebok leggings that actually stay up, they were a bargain in the sale.

Does the gap fit stuff fall down? How about H&M?

I sadly cannot afford SB but I'd buy it if I could afford it.

ZammoMcGuire · 10/01/2015 11:04

Sb is a bit 'mom gym'

shudder

ZaraW · 10/01/2015 11:42

What exactly is "mom gym"?
When I exercise my clothing is based on what fits well and design I have REI running tights which I have had for 5 years were v. cheap but have zip at the back where I can put my keys and iPod. I certainly would never judge anyone on what they wore when exercising. After a 15k run I am not looking my best but I FEEL fantastic.

Sportswear is everywhere all of a sudden. M&S, Sainsbury, Primark.... they all do decent ranges and are not expensive.

My current stuff was from Costco. I have also picked up lots of half price Nike stuff in various Next sales (online, not instore).

Madamecastafiore · 10/01/2015 16:17

M&S have just brought out an exercise range which looks pretty good.

Liberated71 · 10/01/2015 16:22

I've got Nike dri- fit which has lasted for ages. Always try to buy in the sale. Outlet places are great too. IMHO it's the quality of your sports bra that matters most!

Instituteofstudies · 10/01/2015 19:02

The H&M stuff looks great. Does anyone know if a large H&M store would have the range in stock or is it online only?

I usually get my stuff from GAP. I'm very pleased with the fit and quality. (I stock up in the sale) but order online as they hardly have any of the stuff in the store. It would be nice to have another range to try in addition to GAP.

SuperFlyHigh · 10/01/2015 19:10

I've had gap before not tried H&M but seen Instore and it looks great.

Also try tk Maxx - I've got excellent elle, Adidas and Nike workout tops, vests, etc there.

SuperFlyHigh · 10/01/2015 19:11

institute generally most large H&M stores should have workout clothes but some don't and you should ask (only because of trial and error with me re their lingerie etc).

rootypig · 10/01/2015 21:08

Hopefully Grin

PoppyAmex · 10/01/2015 21:27

Not cheap at all, but Lululemon does THE BEST workout clothes ever.

Instituteofstudies · 10/01/2015 21:47

Thanks Super . Will phone up the branch in town and ask what they have in.

Hopefully · 10/01/2015 22:18

rootypig with hindsight the nice high belly covering front should have given it away...

southeastastra · 10/01/2015 22:19

i like sweaty betty and have bought tops from there, just cause they're cool looking and i love the luxe sweat look Grin

i don't ever exercise in them, i buy things from sports soccer for that

hettie · 11/01/2015 06:49

Forever 21 (online) has lots of Good stuff. Also TKmaxx is often good

ihatethecold · 11/01/2015 07:05

I really need some slim kick flare trousers to start Pilates in.
My old ones have holes in the seams now from miles and miles of dog walking.
I'm not very tall so it hard to find a petite range.
Any suggestions. I'm 5'2"

rootypig · 11/01/2015 08:26

Just ordered some gap fit stuff for my sister's birthday, it's 25% off til tomorrow. Should anyone be interested!
