I'm going to a prohibition era themed party on Saturday, what should I do with my hair?

I'll be wearing this dress. I have beads and accessories, but I'm not sure what to do with my hair.

My hair is slightly longer than shoulder length, at the moment it's all one length (no fringe) with a side parting. It's very fine and fragile, so can be difficult to style. I have quite a fat face so it doesn't suit me scraped back.

TIA

Have a look at The Great Gatsby trailers on YouTube

Lovely dress.
You can kind of make your hair into a bob by pinning up the bottom underneath if that makes sense?

TimeWarp · 07/01/2015 18:08

I was wondering if I pinned it under if it might look like this. This one might also be doable, but I'm not sure I could get it as neat as that.

It's funny about the dress, I was admiring it but had no reason to buy it and then suddenly this party came up. Plus, I ended up getting it in the sale, so even better luck.

I would do a simple roll. Its really easy and I do my hair like this all the time.

pull your hair into a low ponytail and secure it with a band. hold the ponytail and stick your finger in the top of it just behind the band and next to your head so that you are making a little hole in the top of the ponytail. Pull it very slightly to make the hole a little bigger. The take the ponytail with your other hand and shoe it up towards the ceiling and the loop back and stick it through the hole. You then get the style that looks like someone has taken two sections of hair and twisted it before tying (they haven't). Then repeat and tuck the ends in and you'll be left with a roll. You can put feathers, jewelled combs etc in of you're so inclined.

I have masses of hair but if you don't then I'd put a bit of body in it first maybe by backcombing the ponytail or curling it slightly.

Ah, cross post! Your second picture shows a version of what I was describing apart from the fact that they've put a headband around the head first and made the pony tail very loose.

I think I feel a visit to Claire's Accessories coming on. I've never been in one but, looking at their website, they have all kinds of glittery combs, clips and hair bands that might be useful.

Maybe a head band like this using atticusclaw's tucked in ponytail technique. Or a thinner version

It's very pretty but you might find the style easier to achieve with a thinner one.

Absolutely love the dress.

Thank you everyone, I looked like this in the end. They eyes aren't quite right as my eyeshadow had completely disappeared, I have no idea where it could have gone to. The hair was very successful though, and stayed up all night even though it was really windy between the car and the house.
