What to wear for March wedding that hides my ankles??

I had a lot of good advice on here when I needed help with a dress for an autumn wedding, and I could wear that dress again at a push, but I couldn't walk in my shoes and I felt really horrible about my ankles (which swell horribly throughout the day) and I'd like to enjoy this wedding! So I'm asking for help again.

I'm 5'8, a size 16, all norks and legs with a spare tyre thrown in for good measure. Very clingy dresses look awful as I'm too lumpy, last time I went with a 50s style dress which was great apart from the ankle thing. I'd prefer to wear trousers, but I can't find anything that says wedding... Colour wise I'm a HoC spring.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Does that mean ankle skimming trousers are out? Next have their SS stuff online and there is a bright pink and a pale yellow suit which are lovely but it may only be winters who can wear yellow I can't remember. Also you would need to try on as I have some brilliant trousers from next but also some which fall down now I have a tummy.

Other options are the maxi dress or jumpsuit.

I think there will be more stock in brighter colours next month in most shops if you can wait.

Palazzo pants with a beautifully cut tunic.

Lucked, I actually have the Next punk trouser suit at the moment but ifs definitely going back! The colour is between pink and red, the cut of the jacket isn't fit ten enough, and just trying the trousers on for 30 seconds made them look so creased it looked like I'd slept in them!

I bought a black debenhams jumpsuit in the sale and liked it but DH said I looked like a magicians assistant and started calling me Debbie Mcgee Blush so it was swiftly returned. It was also sleeveless and I get properly cold and nothing I owned cardigan or jacket wise looked right over the top of it. Those ASOS jumpsuits are lovely but I have a very small head and very wide shoulders so I can't wear off the shoulder without looking ridiculous. The red deep v neck maxi dress in the last ling is gorgeous but I'm short in the body with high boobs so there is no way I could wear that with a bra, and I'm a decade too old for bra less. I love v necks and 3/4 sleeves. Has anyone seen a maxi like that which is dressy?

And ladyB, do you have any examples? I'm not very confident at styling palazzo pants? I think I'd look like I turned up in my pjs Grin

In black?

or sexy

I'm clearly out of the loop but I immediately imagined your dress of choice with really beautiful Gucci-like knee high or above ankle boots in a gentle, non-wintery colour.

tethersend · 08/01/2015 14:25

Yy to ankle or knee boots.

Otherwise, this would be gorgeous.

Annarose2014 · 08/01/2015 14:30

You need to get into the whole Salwar kameez thing. Google it with Camilla, she wears lovely ones that would be very wedding-y, particularly in soft fabrics with embroidery. Personally, I'd get one made, but I realise you mghtn't have time.

Thanks all, sorry for slow reply, dd and I have both been poorly Hmm I'm not sure about the sari! If i was slimmer and prettier I'd definitely go for it, but these days I don't want to stand out so much. No to flat tummy and my boobs are just under my ears so regular necklines look like plunge, so I'd hate to imagine how plunge the plunge dress would be! I think I'm going to wear a big sack to hide all of me....
