Business trip to NYC with snow

Argh I am travelling to NYC on business next week and the forecast is snow and freezing. I'm staying a block from the office so am looking for advice on what to wear to and from the office. Will I look ridiculous in uggs with work clothes? Long boots with thermal socks maybe? My planned outfits are lots of skinny trousers and silk shirts.

Then if we're dining out in the evening am I going to freeze my feet off if I stay in my heels?

I have been in NY in February. I bought some water proof boots as snow can turn to slush with lots of people trampling about on it. I bought special wool base layers and wore a lot of cashmere with a long Duvet coat. I also had a fur hat and real fur lined gloves ( ugg) And a huge cashmere scarf.
There also were a lot of umbrellas about as it can be really wet. I love my Ugg's, but in soaking wet slushy snow I was worried that they would get too wet. You could invest in a pair of waterproof socks.
I think the secret is layers. Inside the buildings it is usually boiling.

And you need a good coat. Classic narrow cut in navy wool, at least mid calf length if you can find it. Wear with Liberty print scarf to play up Britishness.
