what products will give my hair lovely sleekyshineyness? balm/heat protector?

my hair is AWFUL

use to be swishy and shiny but two pregnancies and overuse of the drier/straightners has frazzled it. I've had it cut a bit shorter to get rid of the worst, and am trying to reduce heat styling, but still need to look reasonably presentable for work. I'm using a cheapo balm/frizz ease thing, and a heat protector spray, but don't think much of them. Are there any better brands I can use??

I'd try a conditioning mask, or even just regular conditioner left on for half an hour a couple of times a week. Doing that makes my hair really glossy and swishy
