:( my little girl is bald-ish

:( and it's starting to get to me. She has very sparse hair and she is now 1 years old. My son in comparison has lovely luscious thick curly locks. He had thick lovely hair from the moment he was born. It's hard not to compare, I put in the odd clip and put it in whatever wisp of hair she has, but my worry is it won't get any thicker.

Is there anything I can do? I put her in dresses and sweet little bonnets...has anyone ever had a little girl whose hair just didn't grow in by 1? How long do you think it will take? Is there anything I can do to help her along?

My nephew had practically no hair until he was three. Not a lot you can do about it but I'm sure she will be fine. It wont help if I say 'don't worry' will it?

My sister and I both had hardly any hair until we were at least 2. We have hair now. If her hairs always been like that then I wouldn't overly worry.

My niece was a wee baldy till she was about 18 months old. You should see her now. Gorgeous thick long hair

DSD was 2 or 3 before she got a full head of hair.

My dd was bald for ages. When she was 1 she hardly had any. It was also very thin.

However, she is now 15 and for many years she has had way too much hair. It is long and naturally curly. There is so much of it. You can't brush it between washes as it just goes frizzy. It really suits her though but it is totally unruly.

It's quite common for children to have very sparse hair until they are well over two. Normal and nothing to worry about. She'll have lots of hair soon enough.

My DD just had 'peach fuzz' hair until she was two. She is now 3.5 and has some wavy hair. It's still short but is starting to grow properly now. Think I will take her for a trim soon.

I have very thick wavy hair and I can already see that her hair will eventually be like mine.

Not much you can do about it.

My dd had very little hair at 1. Infact, she looked like a boy! and was mistaken for a boy a few times despite wearing pink. Her hair will grow and i wouldnt worry about it.

uggmum - my niece was like that. Practically bald until she was about 3 but then grew a thick curly head of hair. She is 17 now and her hair really is amazing.

From pics of me I was nearly 2 before I had more than a bit of fluff, once it came in it really came in though, I have loads now.

Thank you everyone, this makes me feel a little bit better...it's just super difficult. I never thought I would be blessed with a little girl (I thought I was destined just to have boys)...and when I had her I swore up and down that I wouldn't dress her in pinks...but now I just dress her in pinks to make sure people can see she is a girl. I don't want to overcompensate...but the random anxiety ridden woman that I am, I just need to get a grip.

DD is 18 months, she's still not completely covered at the top of her head, and the hair at the back is giving her a great mullet style...

avoid pink compensation, there's some lovely blue and red dresses about! Buy her some nice little girl hats to make her look less baldy, by the summer she'll have enough to look more girly.

My dd had almost no hair until about 20mo. She is now 27mo and has a huge bush of hair, we call her wild thing because it's so thick and curly.

Lots of people who've not seem her in a while comment on how quickly her hairs grown.

I wouldn't worry, it'll there.

Just another me too - barely any hair l past one, and yes, know all about putting her in very girly clothes only to find she still got called a boy. Short curly hair by two, now at 16 "way too much" as a pp said. Has an undercut at the back mostly to reduce the volume of hair! Hang in there

OP, why would she need extra feminine dresses and bonnets? Not to be unkind, this is obviously upsetting you, but...the kid is 1. Put her in clothes that are comfy for her to play and toddle in. It doesn't matter that she doesn't have much hair. I am sure she is gorgeous regardless :)

It's not going to do her any harm if people can't identify her as a girl while so little, dress her in whatever you you like that you think would be comfortable for her and correct people if you need to.

i didn't mean extra feminine--totally agree with how redundant that sounded and even silly.

I meant to ask: any other dress shop suggestions? I've done ZARA, HM and Gap.

I recently saw neck and neck and marie chantal but they are a bit pricey (even in the sales)

Me too. No hair to speak of till 18 months at least. Now have normal hair!

Friend of DDs who is 7 is only just getting hair long enough to put up. It's ever been an issue though.

I didn't think many babies had much hair at 1! DD is 13 months and often mistaken for a boy as she is usually dressed in navy (looks horrendous in pink! She's far too pale). Doesn't bother me one bit, I'm sure she'll look more like a girl by the time she goes to school .

I ha no hair until I was two, my twin daughters didn't have any until 2.5 an white blond so you still couldn't see it properly until they were about 3.

DD had a mohican til she was about 2.5 then it started to grow and grow and grow.

She is nearly 11 now and has the thickest hair of anyone I know.

My daughter is a lovely little girl, full of personality and spunk. She has more personality in her litter finger than I've ever had in my whole body.

I'm just running out of ideas for outfits, and I love taking pictures of her! I feel like kids grow up sooo fast. I only had my first child in 2008, and now I look at the boy and he's grown up!
