Gel nail overlays peeling, how can I remove them?

I have gel overlays which are starting to peel off. Salon can't fit it me in for two days and we've got people coming over tonight so would like to tidy them up if possible. Is there a way I can get the gel off myself at home without picking it off?!

Apparently soaking them off with acetone is fine.

I just pick mine off, but my beautician would kill me for telling you that!

You can buy a remover (acetone perhaps?), put it in a dish, place over hot water to keep the liquid warm, and then soak your nails in it for about 20 mins, then peel off. Or soak cotton wool in the removing liquid, wrap each nail in tin foil, and warm your hands somehow...

Boots, it's in a lot of mail varnish removers.

You could try SensatioNail starter kit, including a led lamp. It's on special half price promotion in boots.
It has a complete kit of everything you need to put a gel polish on. They also sell acetone and wraps.
My SensatioNail gel polish, including cuticle manicure and nail shaping takes 30 minutes. It's idiot proof and the nails last two weeks.

Just use nail polish remover and check that it has acetone in it. Put some on a cotton wool pad, place it against your nail and then wrap tin foil around to hold it in place. Leave on for about ten minutes and your should be able to get them off with minimal effort.
As your are already lifting they should come off easily but for any stubborn bits just put the cotton wool pad back on for longer.
It helps to run a nail file just lightly over your nails first - just enough to take the shine off the polish.
