Have about £120 to spend on make up. Help me spend it.

I got some vouchers for Christmas and can't wait to spend them on some new makeup as since having my DC most of money goes on them.

I wear minimal makeup daily-
concealer - garnier roll on
Mascara - max factor calorie 2000
Bronzer - bourjois

And on rarity when I go out will add
foundation - bourjois
lipstick - Mac/Chanel

What lovely products are out there that I'm missing?

Treat yourself to a lovely foundation, I like Clinique or Mac - go to the counters and get a few testers to see what you like :)

120 is a lot of money for makeup. I would go to a mac counter and tell them exactly what you have told us. Any salesperson worth their salt, will give you a tutorial on how to apply more modern makeup and what would be best for you to get.
personally, i would spent money on a decent foundation, and brushes. I spent about 150 on mac brushes in Jan 2008, and they are still going strong. Best money ever spent.

If you're into a more minimal look, have a think about Bobbi Brown - I find their look quite subtle, compared to some of the other counters.

And if you're not used to wearing foundation daily, maybe consider a concealer for "problem areas" eg under eyes. Then a powder compact all over instead.

A good mascara is definitely worth the investment - I love Dior mascara & wear a brown shade as I'm fair haired. Shu-Eumura (? Spelling) eyelash curlers are great too.

Finally, many retailers eg Debenhams, Boots have discount days & loyalty clubs - worth holding on for if you're spending a good amount.,

This foundation is the bees knees. Also, if you're near London, Charlotte Tilbury counters do great lessons.

Think I will upgrade my foundation. I don't wear it much but would be nice to have a good one.

I can save money as have Mac and Bobbi brown brushes - just not any nice make up to use them with.

Will definitely go to Mac counter and tell them I have money to spend - see how nice they are to me then! Although won't get get everything from there as want to try other brands.

MAC will do a full makeup for £50. That £50 can then be redeemed in products, obviously you can then buy more.

I love their foundation and eye products mostly. Their bronzer is good but I prefer NARS blusher and highlighters.

Anastasia Dip Brow is my Holy Grail of brow product, it's taken me many, many products until I found that one.

MAC have a nice palette out currently for doing eyes. Veluxe I think it's called? I've added it to my list!

If minimal makeup is the look you go for, try the eyeshadow palette by Urban Decay called "Naked" I think it's around £37 from debenhams. It's all neutral colours and I've heard nothing but good things about it! I'm a MAC addict but I'll be investing in the naked palette soon as I've wanted it for ages. I have the makeup brush set by Eco Tools - think it's a basics brush set. I picked it up for around £11 from boots and it's great for a starter kit! Why not try a nice highlighter too? I can't think of one off the top of my head but it'll be good for days when you don't wear foundation so you can still have a bit of a glow, and also over the top of foundation too. Have fun! X

I've seen recommendations for Mac and Chanel foundation so will get samples of that. Have just read reviews for the YSL that Gwains suggested and looks good have never thought of YSL for foundation. I think the foundation will be hardest to choose as you never really know what's good until you get to wear it all day.

Thanks RoseyLee for mention of Naked palette. I have got Naked2 and think it's great for a night out, lots of shimmer choices. Will need to look for more subtle will try Mac or Bobbi Brown as lots of cheese said for minimal look.

I have tried most, if not all MAC foundations and find them all great. My skin changes a lot so they all have had their uses in different ways! I agree with going to a MAC counter for them to do full - but subtle - makeup on you. Like somebody else said- the money you pay is what you can spend on products afterwards which I think is great! I've had numerous foundations over the years but one brand I've never tried is NARS. I've heard nothing but good things so I really want to try it! If I think of anything else I will post :-)

Imo two things cannot be saved on

Mascara and foundation

the rest -meh

i would do lancome mascara
nars laguna (for me ) bronzer
chanel foundation
and if money a cream blush too

then cheapy - the soap and glory brow thing archangel or a powder brow thing from Bobbi B

and agree Bobbi Brown WAY better than Mac for subtle

Bobbi Brown is great if you have normal skin. Unfortunately I have combination and sensitive skin and seemed to react when I had a Bobbi brown foundation a couple of years ago. I couldn't tell you exactly which one it was but yes I remember it being lovely and going on nice, but the lavender in the ingredients didn't agree with my skin! :-( x

I swear by the Chanel CC cream and recommend it to anyone who will listen. I use this instead of wearing foundation everyday and when I am going out I use it before applying foundation as a base. It's easy to apply, has great coverage and if possible I am sure it improves my skin. You should be able to get a good size sampler from your nearest counter.

Thanks apples wasn't sure if cc creams worked so good to know. Have looked at the Chanel one online and at £43 is too expensive for me. The max factor at £9.99 might be worth a try though to see what they're like.

Superdrug have some fantastic eyeshadow palettes that are £4 each and are as good as any premium brand. Check out Mua and Revolution.

Clinique CC Cream is amazing - I love it. Urban Decay do two Naked Basics palettes as well now which are all matte - I got my sister one for her birthday and she loves it! Previously an eyeshadow novice.

I'd also buy a few decent nail polishes - Nails Inc nail caviar for the base and then a decent colour.

Urban decay naked pallette is a must, really lovely neutral shades. A good foundation is a must too. I have a clinique one which I mix with a little illuminator, this creates a nice effect and makes it go further.

The Revolution palettes in Superdrug are close copies of the Urban Decay palettes - spot the difference

I was given an Urban Decay Naked palette for Christmas and I'm in love. Definitely get one!
