Hi all.
I'm a 37 yr old sahm with 3 month old pfb and I haven't been to the hairdressers in two years. It's never been an enjoyable experience for me and there are lots of reasons for this the main one being financial.
Before I got pg I lost 4 stone. I'm still overweight but I'm happy with my size and don't want to diet any more. I only put on 20lb in pregnancy and have shifted that. I got some new clothes, decent jeans, nice dresses for going out etc but I still think I look rubbish. I look better when I was bigger and I think my hair is the problem. In my favourite picture of myself it's kind of Holly Willoughby /Tess Daly length and colour.
It's now to my waist and a good few shades darker. So, I know getting a good cut is a start but I don't know what to do about the colour.
I used to get highlights but don't have the money or the patience now really. The last time I got them it cost 110 e for a t section and took 6 hours just in my little village salon!
I wondered if an all over colour would be quicker but the hairdresser tends to talk people out of that and tell them to do it themselves telling them what shade no to buy based on what she thinks will suit but I was told by another hairdresser not to do that because I 'fried' my hair years ago doing that. Have home dyes got better? Can you recommend one?
I did see a picture of jerry hall recently with shorter hair and it's the colour mine is now. I like it but the shorter and darker I go the more I look like my mother! Besides I've always liked long hair and with looking after dd it is tied back most of the time.
I got some xmas money I'd like to spend on sorting myself out it's enough to get my hair done but not much else. What would you do?
