Can you wear them if you are short?
I quite like them but am only 5ft and not particularly skinny either (12/14 ish)
Could I get away with one?

Yes - I wear them quite often, either done up properly as a dress or open over a cami and trousers - am about same size as you. If I wear them as a dress i leave a few buttons undone and wear a cami underneath, otherwise I feel a bit too busty.

for short people?
internet would be better although we will be away next week ,prob Chester or Liverpool so will be able to go to better shops than here!

I got a lovely one from tesco yesterday, sort of army cream beige if that makes sense.. looks lovely over jeans with boots?

I tried on a brown one in Tesco but was very tight round the shoulders and next size was too abggy
