Black tie ball tonight - what can I do quickly?

Due to mix up at venue, our Christmas night out has been bumped from a smart/casual meal to black tie ball.

I'm not sure I can face the shops today. The outfit I had got for tonight is completely unsuitable - leather pencil skirt and fluffy sparkly knit.

Will 10 hours be long enough for fake tan to develop?

Going to ring round and see if I can get a hair appointment squeezed in around my DCs taxi duties.

What else can I do to up my game quite considerably?

Thanks Xmas Smile

Yes. Nails. And get some "party lashes" or semi permanent lashes applies if you can. Cost about £17 here. Last with care two weeks

Do you have a black maxi skirt or dress? Id pop the fluffy knit top on with that - glam and warm.

Do nails now.

No need for fake tan if going with above outfit.

If you cant get a hair appt, put hair up into a chignon.

Find your biggest spangliest earrings.

Space nk will do your make up for free. Blow dry.

On the plus side everyone else will be in the same boat.

Send an email to all your friends to see if anyone has a long dress or cocktail dress that you can borrow.

That is quite a venue mix up!! Second what everyone has said. Have fun!

GaryBaldy · 20/12/2014 12:21

Just a little cardamom - the organiser ticked the wrong box, Hmm so instead of the murder mystery evening (not my thing but she really wanted to do it) we have ended up at the glitz and glamour event on at the same hotel!

I've slapped on some St Tropez, hoping to get to a nail bar to do nice nails, nowhere could fit me in to do my hair unsurprisingly. A few glasses of fizz and I won't care I hope.

A load of Mums from DS' old school are also going according to facebook so it will be wall to wall cleavage and bling, so no matter how I dress up I'll never be as done up as them.

if you go past a Debenhams go to Archangelz or similar and get your lashes done - i tell you its AMAZING

just wear the outfit you had planned. It sounds really nice and better than anything you are likely to find at the last moment today. They are not going to have bouncers at the door turning people away for not being in a ballgown, are they?

ElizabethHoover · 20/12/2014 19:08

how is ti going? is there lots of unnecessary cleavage?

GaryBaldy · 21/12/2014 08:19

Slight aching head this morning.

Managed to borrow a lovely cocktail dress from a friend.

The do wasn't über glam but yes lots of flesh on show and drunken women with tinsel wrapped round doing that beckoning from the dance floor to get people to dance to cheesy Christmas tunes.

Lolz at beckoning
