Recommend me an amazing body moisteriser for mature skin with eczema please

For a Christmas gift for DM. She's recently post menopausal and complaining of dry skin and needing a good moisteriser but she also recently suffered from eczema for the first time (all under control now and only on part of her body) so needs to be suitable for eczema prone/sensitive skin. Am wondering about an eczema emollient type of product (e.g. epaderm) but maybe there are good recommendations/better ideas here

I have eczema, and find that Lush's Dream Cream is a wonderful calming emollient, good for face and body. (I can't touch anything else from Lush, but that product is amazing). Aveeno is good too. I like Steam Cream for my face, and Argan Oil from Neal's Yard is fantastic stuff on the face/neck - really nourishing, used at night (it's too greasy for daytime use).

Has your DM checked what she uses to wash with? She should be using soap and SLS-free shower gel which will help masses - there's no point stripping your skin dry and then putting moisturiser on just to undo the washing.

A lot of these are v medicinal looking - E45, Dermol etc but there are now lots of lovely shower gels that also fit the bill. I loved the Cath Kidston rose and Tisserand but too expensive when not on special offer, Organic Surge is also nice and on the more 'pharmacy' side Eucerin and Aveeno.

Aveeno! Although I like the one with the blue lid best. Any from the range are good though. The bath and shower oil is also fantastic.

Kundry she told me she's had to change her bath/washing products so assume she's on the case of that.

I'm in a similar position to your mum, and recently discovered (about 12 months ago) doublebase cream/lotion. It may not look 'sexy' as a gift, but it's the best body moisturiser I've ever used. It's available in a tube, about £3?, or a pump dispenser, about £10?. Excellent stuff, especially on those irritating small red lumps and bumps on the backs of arms. I can wear Christmas tops without worry this year.

Could you maybe do her a gift pack of small sizes of several different moisturisers?

Aveeno.

I've spent £50+ on a body moisturiser and next to nothing in the supermarket but Aveeno is still the best with Eucerin 10% urea a close second.

I've just started with Aveeno on my pregnancy parched body and it's improved immensely in just a few days.

I started with eczema due to the menopause and a friend recommended Aveeno. It has been brilliant.

I find that creams rather than lotions work best with eczema. She should be getting emollients on prescription though if she has eczema.

Another vote for aveeno - my youngest Ds has had an eczema flare-up & after 2 days applying this has almost completely disappeared

Aveeno cream is lovely and id also recommend their bath and shower oil. My ds got it on prescription for his exzema and it worked a treat!
Eucerin do an amazing shower oil too which is hard to get hold of here in the UK but a friend of mine is dermatolgist consultant in sweden and always recommends it to his patients.

I have very sensitive skin with roseaca and hivea etc and hqve good results with bio oil too. I know that goes against what everyone says due to petroleum or parabens or whatever but the stuff works for me.

Bucking the trend and suggesting A-Derma from boots. It's oat based like Aveeno but has a really luxurious feel about it.

Another vote for Aveeno. I've tried the lotion, the cream and the cream/oil and they're all great.

This is great to see so many recommendations for the same thing, it must be good! I'm even thinking of buying one for me too
