I am wearing a dress that is navy with black lace on top of the navy underdress (ie mainly navy). What colour and thickness of tights and shoes am should I wear? Available are:

  1. opaque navy or black tights, 20 dernier black tights, nude 10-20 dernier tights
  2. black shoes (patent, suede or leather) or dark charcoal grey shoes
Please tell me the answer so I don't have to spend my entire make-up time agonising Grin

If the dress is quite short, then you'd be fine with opaque tights and black shoes. I think opaque tights look frumpy with anything longer than 'just above the knee' but other people might feel differently.

But if the dress is knee length or longer, then it's nude tights.

Have a great night!

In order of preference, nude tights, opaque, then bare-legged before the 20-denier black.

Shoes - patent with nude tights. Suede if you got for the opaque.

And enjoy!
Please report back on anyone else's hosiery-related failures!

Black opaque tights, black shoes.

Thanks for the replies so far. About to put the dress on….at least I know not to even try the thin black ones!
