Feel too chunky for skinny jeans - what should I be wearing??

What is the right style of jeans for the not-so-slim? I am a tallish size 16, bit of an arse on me plus chunky upper thighs, but then slim lower legs. I do wear skinnies with longer line tops and boots, but what if I want a change? I don't always want to wear tunics!! I used to love boot cut jeans but it's a style that seems out of favour on the one hand, but also that doesn't seem to look as good on me as a size 16 as it did when I was a 14 Sad Advice would be fab!

What about a straight style or boyfriend Jeans feel your pain I was a late convert to the skinny jeans and I'm so over them now

sksk · 11/12/2014 21:54

I am a size 10-12 but can't do skinny jeans- Jeggings work for me or straight cut jeans. Try Dorothy Perkins for their Eden Jeggings- I wear these a lot!

There was a thread yesterday along these lines. Kick flares are making their way back apparently

I like gap real straight

You4coffee · 11/12/2014 22:31

Not jeans but I really like the broken in khakis from gap. I'm ample of thigh and they are a great fit and not too clingy but not too baggy iykwim

KikitheKitKat · 12/12/2014 10:56

Straight jeans definitely. Btw what's the difference between a kick flare and bootcut?

Hoppinggreen · 12/12/2014 11:31

gap real straight for me too, not too tight but tuck in my uggs

Hoppinggreen · 12/12/2014 11:31

I'm a 14/16 and Boyfriend jeans are a major no no for me

sksk · 12/12/2014 16:48

I think kick flares are more Fitted at the thigh and have more flare than standard bootcut jeans. Not quite bell bottoms, though.

I like the 'slim' next jeans... Similar sizing!

DoingTheBestICan · 12/12/2014 19:44

Straight leg jeans are your friend.

uggmum · 12/12/2014 19:47

I second Gap jeans. The real straight are great. They also do a slim straight which is lovely and a good Alternative to Skinny.
They retail at about £44 but if you register online for their mailing list you will get regular offers. I only paid £26 each for my last 3 pairs.

What about fleece lined thermal tights and a denim skirt? That is my denim of choice!

RozTheSchnoz · 12/12/2014 20:29

I've moved from
bootcut Blush to straight and would never go back. Also chunky of thigh so skinnies look ridiculous but straight legs are more flattering and fit into boots - I'd never go back!
