Maybe quilted?

Not short but not past knee length (and I'm petite)

Less than £150

SAHM lifestyle but something non-frumpy!

Any recommendations?

I am freezing!!!

I bought a Lands End lightweight down parka last week and its great. Waterproof too and warm. Cost £89 but they had a sale on but I think they currently have 25% off.

hownow · 04/12/2014 15:15

^ thanks for the recommendation but I've tried lands end before & their size 8 isn't a true size 8 so swamps me.

Shame as the quality is good.

I have a great coat from seasalt - waterproof but not shiny and quilted but not frumpy. It's the snowdrop coat but they have others that are even warmer!

slalomsuki · 04/12/2014 15:18

They do a petite range now and remember they size large as the conversion from US to UK sizes are not quite accurate.

Also try Centigrade via QVC as they had some earlier this year.

Any good Zara coats this year?

What about jack wolfskin?

Have looked at the Merrell Haven II?

SuperDuperJezebel · 04/12/2014 17:21

I have a lovely down coat from Zara, it comes just above my knees (5ft3). Will see if I can find a link!

SuperDuperJezebel · 04/12/2014 17:23

this one!

LeoandBoosmum · 04/12/2014 17:38

This is 95cm, so you'd have to measure where it would reach on you if interested:

www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0214-3076-9045L00&productvarid=0214-3076-9045L00-BLACK-18&refpage=coats-jackets

Not suere what your size is but available in black or stone. £179 BUT if you use WHNOV before midnight tonight you can get 20% off. If you get it delivered into store that's free.

I've got a Marmot Montreaux coat. With 650 fill pure goose down it knocks all High street puffas into cocked hat. And it's far warmer than brands like Lands End or North Face. I have literally never been cold since I bought it and I used to freeze every winter.

It comes with a detachable hood with a horrible faux fur thing but you can detach the fur thing too so I binned it.

specialsubject · 04/12/2014 18:40

layers will work far better as they trap air. Thermal vest, shirt/t-shirt, fleece or two, windproof jacket/coat.

SuperDuperJezebel · 04/12/2014 19:15

Agree LadyintheRadiator - I love that it's got the belted waist. Probably I just love that I've lost enough weight that I can wear Zara now!

slalomsuki · 04/12/2014 19:17

There is a tog 24 coat in the sale just now with a battery operated heated back to it as well as being waterproof. Bet that's warm!

Norfolknway · 04/12/2014 22:55

I have a lovely coat from esprit

it was £125 last year, I.think.

I'll try and link

Just attempted a reply but posted in completely different place... Have you looked at craghoppers? I'm 5'1" and 8/ 6-8 and their size 8 is a proper size 8. It's just below thigh length on me, v warm, waterproof, slightly fitted and not at all frumpy. Think I paid around 125, possibly from surfdome? I love it. Not been cold on school run since it arrived.

yazzy85 · 08/12/2014 10:13

SuperDuperJezebel & LadyintheRadiator I like the look of the Zara one. Have never ordered from them before. What size would you suggest for a size 10 in other shops??

SuperDuperJezebel · 08/12/2014 13:25

I'm a 12, very occasionally a 10 and I got a medium. I tried on the large and it felt roomier but way too big around the bottom (just wanted to check as it was a tiny bit snug, not uncomfortable at all but I carry most of my weight around my tummy).

Paddingtonthebear · 08/12/2014 13:31

I've got this Jack Wolfskin 5th Avenue coat. Ive got the navy one . It's warm, stylish and fully waterproof. I got it here, they are £225 on the Jack Wolfskin website and in the Cotswold outdoor store (where I tried it on in black before looking online for it cheaper and finding the navy colour). This website was a bargain

yazzy85 · 08/12/2014 16:32

Paddington that's a great deal. I think it might be a bit shorter than what I'm looking for. I tried on the Jack Wolfskin Icegaurd and it was too big in the smallest size, loved the quality though!

Paddingtonthebear · 08/12/2014 19:08

I'm 5'4 and it's mid thigh and bum covering on me. Very different fit than the ice guard IMO, I didn't like that one

yazzy85 · 08/12/2014 21:14

Thanks Paddington it looks shorter in the pictures, I'm the same height as you so should be ok. How is the sizing? I'm a 10 normally, should I order a small or medium?

Paddingtonthebear · 09/12/2014 07:11

I've got a small, I would say its a size 10
